Schucker 50 GOLDIE: Pilothouse Motorsailer for sale

  Schucker 50 GOLDIE

The GOLDIE Story.

The GOLDIE has been our home since purchased in September 1996. We bought it from Jim Schucker through a broker in St Petersburg, Florida. According to Jim and the broker, the boat was built in 1982 but never got 'wet' until early 1985. Jim cruised through the 'islands', Mexico and the east coast of the US.  I believe the boat sat for 3 years, in the Punta Gorda area before we purchased her. We have been doing the usual refitting and improving/upgrading ever since. The boat came with a 130 Hp BMW engine with 1933 hours on it. We repowered with a new 170 Hp Yanmar in 2000. The engine only had 200 hours on it when we left on our 2 year cruise, beginning in April 2004.

We are selling because our daughter has started college in the fall of 2006 and we are not presently cruising or livingaboard. We plan to go cruising again in 3 years. Our daughter will not be with us then and we won't need as big a boat as the GOLDIE.

The SCHUCKER is quite an unusual boat. They're all built like tanks. They may not be the fastest, most high tech sailing machines, but they will get you wherever you want to go in safety, comfort and style. The 'liveability' of the boats is outstanding. There are several original owners of these boats that still own them, and they haven't been produced since 1982. There were approx 100 boats builts. The boats are as unique as the people who own them. I personally began maintaining the Schucker owners list in 1997. I have been in contact with approx 75 owners.

There were only four 50 footers built. The first one was purchased from the original owner 2 years ago. Another one was purchased approx 4 years ago, also from the original owner. The last one was a bare hull that Jim sold with the company. That was made into a trawler. Then there is the GOLDIE. It is like no other SCHUCKER, much less the other 50 footers. According to Jim, there was extra resin around the plant, so it has extra fiberglass in it. It has rod rigging, all roller furling gear, some unique storage boxes on the roof and a schooner rig amongst many other things. There is not another boat like the GOLDIE nor will there will be another one like her available for purchase. So if you're interested in her, please contact me at goldietv1@yahoo.com. We may be interested in a smaller boat in trade, power or sail. Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/schuckerboats/ for additional info and pictures of other Schuckers. On the following pages are her specs.
