We offer a free rehoming service to snakes and lizards.
No questions asked, but i will require to know any health problems the animal has in order to provide the best care. In most cases we will try to rehome the animals to somebody knowledgable; but where this is not in the best interestes of the animal, or against the owners wishes, we will keep the animals for the forseeable future.
If you or anyone you know need to use this service; please contact us at scalesntailsessex@hotmail.co.uk with any information you can give.
Below is a little about the animals we have worked with recently.
'Skinky' the Blue Tongue Skink
Skinky came from a home in London. He was provided with extremly high quantities of calcium and UV lighting as a baby. This resulted in hard calcium deposits left within his body that will remain forever. He has been vet checked and is otherwise in good health.
'Poppy' the Bearded Dragon
We collected Poppy from along the M1. She was riddled with mites and her tail had been bitten. We treated her with extensive mite treatment and she is being kept in an isolation vivarium, being bathed regularly until she is nursed to full health.
Poppy is now back to full health. Sadly Poppy has lost the tip of her tail which has now fully healed
'Ice' the coral Cornsnake
We got Ice in a very poor condition. He was drastically underweight after refusing to feed for a long period of time. We treated him for internal parasites and began our mission to get him eating again. It eventually took a couple of live feeds to regain his interest and he began to gain weight over the few months that followed. Unfortunatly he lost interest again and quickly went down hill; he died very shortly after. Rest in Peace.
*Please note; we are not a profitable business, just a couple of hobbiests trying to recoupe a little of our outgoings on the animals we own and rescue
