ABOUT US

SCAAR is local herpetology group formed by locals right here in Broken Hill. We share the appreciation of all reptiles and amphibians.

Reptiles are a growing interest and many people are already "shedding” their fear of snakes thanks to the members involved in SCAAR who are working to educate the public about native reptiles.

Most people think "the only good snake is a dead snake" and we want to help people understand that it’s just not true.

ADVICE

Between our members we have many years of experience with reptiles. We are more than happy to share our wealth of knowledge and answer any questions or concerns anyone may have. If you do need to contact someone please feel free to view our contact page or come along to our meetings.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

We would like to invite everyone to come along and join in on our monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of every month at the West Darling Hotel in Argent Street at 6:30pm, everyone is welcome and it’s free.

At our meeting and you will be able to experience snakes and other reptiles in a safe, controlled environment and you don't have to handle any reptiles if you don’t want to.

Only non-venomous snakes are ever at meetings, and all snakes are safe to be handled by even small children, so come along and see what you've been missing out on!!

The west darling in “Great Spirit” has allowed SCAAR to use their venue for years now and we cannot show our appreciation enough. Please show your support and patronize the bar.
