There is always the temptation to gossip. There is always the possibility that this may not benefit your spirituality.

I have had very good experiences. I have mailed money to disciples in other countries who I believed to be in need (I do not recommend you do the same). I have hosted disciples from New York while they were vacationing in San Diego. I have talked with disciples in Egypt, Jerusalem, Philippines, and all over the world. I have vented, studied, confessed, prayed, etc. Again I caution you, do not become some crazy introverted internet disciple. This is only a tool.
