Okay all... The details are in!
Location: Sheguiandah Native Indian Reserve on Manitoulin Island, ON (about 6.5 hours North of Toronto, in Georgian Bay)
- Date: Saturday, August 11 - Saturday, August 18
- Activities:
- Core is a vacation bible school-type daycamp for the kids - about 3 hours each day
- We'll also be doing some work with the teens on the reserve, taking them on day trips to go hiking, swiming / bridge jumping, sports etc.
- There's also a ladies program for the mothers in the community
- We need people with a variety of interests - sports, crafts, teaching, etc, - to come help out.
- Focus:
- This will be very much a relational opportunity - we'll get to interact with the kids and apparently some of the teens often come over the campground in the evening and share dinner and campfires with us
- As a group, you'll get to work as part of a team and grow a lot as a person, so it will be very beneficial for you as you grow up and become involved in new experiences
- Living: We'll be camping at a facility a couple of minutes from the reserve
- Cost: Minimal, but TBD - the church mission committee has committed to helping us significantly and it is relatively close to home, so the cost should be small
- Who: We're getting people (teens + college / adults) from our own church + teaming with people from another church that has been involved in this ministry for a few years now and is looking to pass it on.
