James Robert Weedon (Weidon) SAWYER
I have created this page so that I can add all the information I have gathered about James Robert Weedon Sawyer.
First I would like to thank my new dear friend Monica for her invaluable input into the story of JRW Sawyer.
Most of the information and photos are from Monica and her own photo collection.
James and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Sawyer had 13 children, only 6 of the children survived through childhood.
1912 - Rose Elizabeth Sawyer: born 27 January 1912 (cert)
1916 - May: Frances May Sawyer: born 21 November 1916 (cert)
1918 - Jimmy: James Robert Sawyer: born 16 May 1918 (cert)
1920 - Bobby: Robert James Sawyer: born 25 January1920 (cert)
1921 - Jack: John Henry Sawyer: born 16 July 1921 (cert)
1924 - Lilly: Edith Lilian Sawyer - born 29 May 1924 (cert) known as Valerie Lilian At this time the other 7 births (and deaths) are eluding me. I think I remember reading somewhere that if the child died during childbirth or soon after that it wasn't necessary to register the birth. I think the death would have been registered though, so the search continues.

Working out who's who... (UPDATED Jun 2009)
Unfortunately, Monica has no idea which of the children are included in this photo, she thinks this photo was taken somewhere around 1920 - 1922 as Rose was about 8 - 10 years old. Looking at the ages of the children and the dates of births of the six that survived I have made some guesses as to who we see here.
Originally I assumed that these 6 children are the 6 that survived but looking at the birth dates that I now have I think that the youngest (on Mum's lap) is actually Jack (John Henry) so the other two boys are Jimmy and Bobby.
As Lily (Edith Lilian) wasn't born until 1924 we have a mystery girl who may have died of a childhood disease.
So the children I think are:
Rose aged 10
Mystery Girl aged 8 (Still looking for her birth cert.)
May aged 6
Jimmy aged 4
Bobby aged 2
Jack aged 1
What I find interesting is JRW and Lizzy's ages.
JRW was born in in 1872 which would put him around 48 and not looking too bad but for the receding hairline.
Lizzy born 1886 would have only been around 34, I guess after giving birth to so many children it's bound to take it's toll.
