The man who gave us Passions has died.
James E. Reilly Dead at 60
Legendary head writer James E. Reilly (DAYS OF OUR LIVES, PASSIONS) passed away over the weekend. He was 60. Jonathan Russo, Reilly's agent and friend for over 25 years, says Reilly had been recovering from cardiac surgery when he died suddenly in the hospital. His beloved sister Cathy Robinson was by his side. "James Reilly was one of the most profoundly lovely human beings in our industry. He was a towering person in our industry who had a tremendous faith in God and Catholicism, as anyone who watched PASSIONS knows. Everyone will miss him," adds Russo. There are no funeral plans. There may be a memorial service at a later date.

Also Canadian Passions fans can be rest assured that if USA Network agrees to proudce new Passions episodes, Canadians will be able to see them on Super Channel.
Please continue to contact USA Network and ask them to pick up reruns and new episodes of Passions. We would also like to encourage all Canadian Passions fans to contact USA Network as well, because the only way for anyone to see new Passions episodes is for USA Network to save it!
****CALL DIRECTV NOW at 1-800-494-4388 and tell them that you will CANCEL YOUR DIRECTV SUBSCRIPTION ONCE PASSIONS IS CANCELLED******
----- BREAKING NEWS, RUMOR SAYS NBC AND USA NETWORK ARE HAVING TOP SECRET TALKS TO PICK UP AND PRODUCE NEW EPISODES OF PASSIONS FOR 2009! -------
Could this really happen? Miracles have happenend before, so who's not to say that a miracle can't save Passions (if Passions is saved by USA, then it would make a new record as the first show ever to be cancelled and then saved not once but twice!)
However let's lay down some facts, but first according to sources inside USA Network, talks are still going on, it now looks like if a deal is made, reruns will air in the fall and if they do well, new episodes will be produced in 2009.
ONCE AGAIN WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SAVE PASSIONS AGAIN, Fans were able to convience both DIRECTV and SuperChannel to save Passions, now let's move onto USA Network
How to contact USA Network
PHONE
Call the NBC switchboard at 212-664-4444, and ask to leave a message on the USA Network Viewer Hotline. Please note that USA Network is not able to return any calls.
POSTAL MAIL
Address your letters to:
USA Network
30 Rockefeller Plaza
21st Floor
New York, NY 10112
E-Mail them at this link http://www.usanetwork.com/feedback/#Contact
In Your E-Mails, remember to mention the following
Mention that Passions was the #1 daytime drama in Women 12-24, 18-24, and 18-34, one of the biggest reasons why USA wants Passions is because they want that young women demo, USA Network is already very popular with men and older women, but they want that younger women demo.
Mention how loyal you are to Passions, Passions fans are extremely loyal, let them know.
If you either made the switch to DIRECTV or pay to watch the episodes online at NBC.com, make sure you tell them that, as those are 2 big examples of how loyal you are to Passions
Tell them that you will make sure to watch Passions on USA Network, and will sample all of the other shows on USA Network if they pick up Passions. Hey, the least we Passions fans to do is sample the other USA programming, if Passions is saved.
Also if you don't watch much USA programming, LET THEM KNOW THAT, They want Passions to bring new viewers to the network.
THIS JUST IN, DIRECTV CONFIRMS THAT THEY HAVE CANCELLED PASSIONS
In a news release posted today, DirecTV said
"We are pleased to announce that DIRECTV has ordered an additional 52 episodes of Passions so that fans will continue to enjoy brand new episodes of the show through Summer 2008 when Passions will conclude its run on DIRECTV. We’re excited that we can continue to bring more drama and excitement to fans and give them a chance to keep up with the intensifying storylines as they unfold over the next few months." - DirecTV Press Release
this means that Passions will be cancelled after Summer 2008.
Variety talks about Passions being cancelled, AGAIN!
DirecTV has lost its passion for "Passions" -- but the NBC U-produced sudser isn't quite dead yet.
Satcaster has told NBC it won't be ordering a second season of the soap, which moved to DirecTV in September as part of a $40 million deal designed to bring more original programming to the service (Daily Variety, Apr. 25). NBC canceled the show earlier this year.
In order to keep "Passions" on DirecTV through August, satcaster has ordered 52 additional episodes of the show from the Peacock's Universal Media Studios. However, starting in early to mid-January, skein will begin airing just three times a week (compared with four weekly airings now).
"Passions" will go on an extended holiday hiatus next week, then return in February for another month of filming. Show will wrap production in March, and as of now, there are no firm plans for it to continue.
However, with UMS having reduced the budget on the show significantly, there's talk that "Passions" might yet find another life elsewhere. Newly acquired cabler Oxygen might make a good fit. Peacock also could turn the skein into an Internet-based sudser.
DirecTV and UMS declined comment.
Let's not give up, 3 options for where Passions could go
#1. Oxygen - E-mail AND write to the Oxygen Cable network
Oxygen Media, LLC, 75 9th Avenue, New York, NY 10011
feedback@oxygen.com
#2. E-mail NBC and ask them to keep Passions air Passions ONLINE at NBC.com, tell them that you will be willing to pay a fee to continue to watch the show (hey PPV online Passions is better than no Passions, plus we have to make NBC know that they will make money off it!)
http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/
#3. E-Mail Comcast Cable group, and tell them that you will switch from DirecTV to comcast if they pick up Passions, also make a point that Passions would be a great fit on the E! Network (which comcast owns)
Contact Comcast at http://www.comcast.com/Corporate/Customers/Contactus/Contactus.html?lid=2CustomersContactus&pos=Nav
Contact E! at https://www.hostedsupport.com/Support/index.cfm?fuse=main.ticket&CaseTypeID=148
ALSO, EVERYONE WHO HAS DIRECTV, SEND THEM E-MAILS AND PHONE CALLS SAYING THAT ONCE PASSIONS IS DONE, YOU ARE DONE WITH DIRECTV! And make sure you let them know that the reason for you leaving DirecTV is soley because of Passions getting cancelled. DirecTV does not care about us, so we should not care about them. Cancel DirecTV and make them regret pulling the plug on Passions!
Let DirecTV know that you will be leaving them once Passions is over at this link http://directv.com/DTVAPP/customer/howToReachUs.jsp or call them at 1-888-777-2454

Passions Cancelled... Again
Posted Monday, December 10, 2007 1:23:15 AM by SoapCentral.com
It's a horrible sense of deja vu for fans of Passions. savepassions.com & soapcentral.com has learned that, for the second time this year, Passions has been cancelled! An official announcement from DirecTV has not yet been made
several of the show's performers have informed their fans that the plug has been pulled on the show for the second time in 12 months.
In a message posted on soapcentral.com's message boards, a claim was made that Passions star Tracey Ross (Eve Russell) directed a webmaster of a fan site to post a message stating that the cast and crew of Passions had been given notice that the show would be ending.
Later, actress Liza Huber (Gwen Hotchkiss) posted a message on her official web site with the same unfortunate news.
"Yes, it is true that Passions will finish taping at the end of March 2008," Huber said. "We will start airing 3 days a week on DirecTV which should last through summer of 2008. It has been a wonderful ride (although Gwen has completely lost her mind!) and I want to thank all of you for your amazing support for Passions through the years!"
"This rumor is indeed true at this point. Passions is scheduled to stop shooting March 2008," added Eric Martsolf (Ethan Winthrop).
While Passions is currently DirecTV's highest-rated original program, insiders say that the satellite television provider failed to meet the projected total of new subscribers expected to sign up for DirecTV in order to see Passions after it left broadcast television.
NBC canceled Passions in January 2007 to make way for a fourth hour of its morning news show, Today, but left open the possibility that the supernatural soap could find new life on another network. Before the show ultimately landed on DirecTV, it is widely believed that NBC shopped the show to the Disney-owned all-soaps cable channel, SOAPnet, along with several other cable networks. Passions' low-ratings and high production costs were the reasons cited by NBC for ditching the eight-year-old soap. Ironically, those very reasons are believed to be the rationale for other networks not wanting to pick up the rights to broadcast Passions.
The cast and crew of Passions will tape its final episodes of the year on December 19th before taking a Christmas-New Year's break. The show will resume taping in 2008 with the final episode being taped on or around March 24th, 2008.
New episodes of Passions will air through the summer, which would fulfill DirecTV's one-year commitment to the show.
As the news of Passions rumored cancellation made their rounds on the Internet, some fans threatened legal action against DirecTV.
"I think they knew that they were going to cancel Passions all along," said one poster on soapcentral.com's Passions forum. "They just wanted to increase their subscriber base."
In Canada, SuperChannel will continue to air Passions, however once DirecTV pulls the plug, it will also dissapear from SuperChannel.
Over in the www.savepassions.com guest book, loyal Canadian Passions fans have came up with the awsome idea for SuperChannel to pick up and fund/produce Passions once DirecTV pulls the plug, however it appears that SuperChannel must spend all it's profit on making Canadian programming, and therefore would not be able to fund/produce Passions.
There is still a small chance that Passions may end up somewhere else, stay with www.savepassions.com for continuing coverage.

PRESS RELEASE FROM ALLARCO ENTERTAINMENT
Superchannel and NBC bring Passions to Canada this fall - New Episodes for PASSIONate Fans on Superchannel
EDMONTON, Sept. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - NBC Universal and Superchannel are
pleased to announce the acclaimed daytime drama Passions has found a new home
on Superchannel, Canada's new national pay television network set to launch
this fall.
Passions fans were in danger of no longer receiving their favourite
cutting-edge daytime drama because of a shift to pay TV in the US.
Superchannel responded quickly to the grassroots demand by securing the deal
with NBC.
Following a recent agreement with DIRECTV, the United States' leading
satellite television company, NBC Universal Television Studio will produce
brand-new episodes to air on Superchannel in Canada. The popular program
enjoys an intensely dedicated fan base that will now not have to miss a single
episode.
"Superchannel is committed to giving Canadians the best TV there is. When
we saw the Canadian fan outcry at the possibility of losing Passions, we acted
fast. Just like Passions breaks the mould for daytime drama, Superchannel is
breaking the mould for premium TV," said Sandy Perkins, Superchannel,
Vice-president Programming.
"It is wonderful news that Superchannel has licensed Passions to serve
the loyal fan base that this series created here in Canada," says Ron Suter,
Senior Vice President & General Manager, NBC Universal Canada. "This is a
perfect match that hopefully will continue for many years to come."
Passions follows the various romantic and supernatural adventures of the
residents of Harmony, Maine. The series debuted on NBC in 1999 and has
routinely been amongst the top daytime programs in critical demographics. It
is currently tied for No.1 among all daytime dramas in both women ages 18-24
and females 12-24.

BREAKING NEWS: Allarco Entertainment SAVES Passions in Canada!
***UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Allarco Entertainment, they confirmed the following things
#1. YES, they have picked up Passions. Passions WILL air on 1 of the 4 or 6 pay TV channels owned by Allarco Entertainment. The name of the channel where Passions will air on will be announced later this month
#2. Allarco Entertainment is in talks with all the major cable/satellite companys to carry their channels. Right now nothing has been confirmed but she said it's almost a sure thing that the Allarco Entertainment channels will be available on Bell ExpressVU, Star Choice, and Rogers. She also said that she has got many calls from Passions fans.
Stay with SavePassions.com for complete coverage of Passions on Allarco Entertainment, we will make sure to advertise the new channel once we get more info about it
WE DID IT! YES THAT'S RIGHT, PASSIONS HAS BEEN SAVED IN CANADA! Passions fan Jonathan Foley has reported that Allarco Entertainment, a NEW Canadian pay TV cable network has picked up the Canadian brodcast rights to Passions! Allarco Entertainment will air Passions starting in October (the DirecTV episodes start in September, but don't worry Allacro Entertainment has said that they will air all the episodes)
Now what is Allarco Entertainment? Well it's a brand new Canadian Pay TV Channel (just like The Movie Network, Movie Central, ect..) that will launch a bunch of channels, and one of those channels will air Passions!
Now as for how Canadians will access this pay TV channel is unkown that this time, however according to Jonathan Foley Allarco has said that they are in talks with Bell Express VU, also it was Rogers cable TV that informed him about Allarco Entertainment, so it looks like Canadians with Bell Express VU & Rogers will be able to access Passions, once again nothing has been announced, so it's very likely that more providers will air Allarco TV.
Allarco Entertainment
Also I just want to thank Jonathan Foley and all the other Canadian Passions fans who sent e-mails to everyone from Global to Rogers to NTV to SUN TV to Bell. If it was not for you Passions would not have been saved! YOU guys have saved Passions in Canada!
As soon as more info on Allarco Entertainment get's announced it will be posted, also once more info is announced SavePassions.com will make sure to advertise the Allarco Entertainment airing Passions.
To see how the events unfolded, have a look at our Guest Book
BREAKING NEWS! Global CONFIRMS that Passions WONT AIR ON GLOBAL CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO!
Dear viewer:
Thank you for your email and your interest in our programming.
Effective September 7th, 2007, please note that Global Television will air its final broadcast of the daytime drama series Passions.
We have enjoyed bringing this daytime drama to our audiences since 2000 and appreciate the support Canadian fans have shown. However, as a direct result of NBC’s recent decision to discontinue airing this series, the option to simulcast will no longer be available to Global.
We hope that we have addressed your concerns, and that you will continue to enjoy Global Television programming.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
~Viewer Contact
Global and CH Television
DON'T GIVE UP! E-MAIL Global at viewercontact@globaltv.com and DEMAND that they continue to air Passions!
I admit this news is NOT at all good, Unless Global get's THOUSANDS of e-mails (SEND AS MANY AS YOU CAN!) don't expect Passions to be on Global's fall schedule.
Global airing Passions was always the best choice for Canadian viewers, Because Global is the only national Canadian network that would consider to continue to air the show. However now that Global has said they have no plans to air the show, we have to go after smaller NON-national networks. SUN TV (based in Toronto) and NTV (based in Newfoundland)
The good news for Canadian viewers? If either NTV or SUN TV picks up Passions, no matter where in Canada you live you WILL be able to watch Passions. BOTH SUN TV & NTV are available on Canada's 2 Satellite providers Bell ExpressVU & Star Choice. SUN TV & NTV are both available on Rogers Digital Cable across Canada. Sure it would be better if a national network like Global continued to air it but atleast if SUN TV or NTV pick up Passions Canadians will have a way to access it if they want.

SavePassions.com FAQ:
Q: I Live in The U.S., why should I bother to e-mail Global, SUN TV, or NTV?
A: Because you will be helping out Canadian Passions fans BIG TIME! Remember DirecTV is illegal in Canada so even if we wanted to watch Passions we can't! We would do the same for you!
Q: What about CTV?
A: Even though it would be GREAT if CTV picked up "Passions", it just wont happen. As some of you may know CTV was the Canadian brodcaster of Passions when it first started in 1999 however then droped the show in 2000 (when Global then picked it up), So if they didn't want Passions when they could simulcast it they wont want it now. Also CTV's schedule is already full, also they are not going to pick up something that Global doesn't even want.
Q: What about Citytv and A Channel?
A: Citytv is in the process of being sold to CTV and A Channel is in the process of being sold to Rogers so trying to get them to pick up any show let alone Passions is out of the question for now.
