My cousin was the person killed by Danny, not Jeff. I say this as a family member who realized long ago Jeff had no part in my cousin's murder and he shouldn't be executed. It's insane to kill another person who did not kill Kris. The video showed Jeff took no part in it. Jeff was one of my friends growing up and someone I think deserves a chance. If he didn't kill him, why should we kill Jeff? This is ridiculous.

I do not condone Jeff's being involved with the person who actually fired the shot, or the situation surrounding it, but the fact is- he did NOT kill the young man. As the Ag Teacher in Devine,Tx, I taught both Jeff and the victim, and cared for both, as I do for all of my students. I do believe in the death penalty, and believe it should be carried out in a judicious manner-but only for the person who is actually involved in the offence. When a drunk driver kills innocent people, sometimes whole families, we rarely sentence him to death, and the other passengers are never even charged with a crime-even though they may have prevented the "accident" from occurring. I have served on the grand jury, and understand a communitie's desire to protect itself from the criminal element of society, and have voted to bring first degree murder charges against an offender, but I aslo know that equal protection under the law-in spirit at least- dictates that we hold accountable only those that are actually guilty of the crime. Rick-as a former classmate at A & M, as co-laborers and aquaitances in the field of Agricutlure, I urge you to at least examine the facts of this case, and let your concience be your guide.

I've known Jeff since he was a little child and taught his Sunday School class when he was in the 3rd grade. Jeff manifested learning disabilities at this early age, and became frustrated and angry because of his inability to read on grade level. He was certainly wrong to have taken part in the robbery, but I'm certain that he did not pull the trigger or directly cause the death of the store clerk. I have known Jeff Wood and his family for over 10 years. This person should not be executed due to a faulty trial. Every body deserves a fair trail. He should not be executed just because he was not the shooter. His punishment does not fit his crime. Why is it fair for a young man to be put to death for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. He could not and wouldn't have gone if he knew what was going to happen that day. Everybody makes mistakes, some more severe than others, we all do it. The courts let rapists and child molesters go every day unscathed, they may serve some time but that is it. They should be the ones on death row. If being executed because he is guilty by association than every military member, police officer, and docter is truly guilty of it. Those individuals take lives in these certain careers but they do not go on death row. Why is that? Is it because they can carry a gun, use a surgical knife? Can you answer that. If you were in a situation where the other person had a weapon and told you to drive what would you do?

I have visited with Jeff on death row recently. He was saved and baptized in prison and will face whatever the Lord has in store for him in a Christian manner and with a Christian witness. However, He did not murder the store clerk and he should not be executed.

Please reconsider and save Jeff's life. I do not agree that he should receive the Death penalty as he was not aware that a murder would occur, and was not in the store to try and stop it. I do understand that Jeff has always been a very loving and caring individual and who would have never knowingly been involved in a murder. While I understand that the law of parties was created to keep the getaway drivers from getting away with crime, this is a grave injustice. If someone is unaware of a crime occuring and becomes third party via gun threat, that is not the same as planning and executing the crime! Please review this case and remove Jeff's conviction and execution.
