BREAKING NEWS: Rattlers to make change at QB January 8, 2007
Throughout the season Rattlers' fans weren't happy with the consistency
of quarterback Danny May. During the regular season he averaged just
119 yards per game and only completed 58.18% of his passes. A lot
of fans felt that with better play at the quarterback position this
team could have been Cup Champions this season. Well, tonight Rattlers'
GM Scott Bender has called a sudden press conference and we are being
told it is to introduce newly acquired DS Ray Lewis as well as to
announce a change at the QB position.
Scott Bender walks to the podium. Standing behind him is Coach Jim Phillips.
Scott Bender -- "Hello everyone. Thanks for coming out tonight.
First off I'd like to bring out Mr. Ray Lewis our newly acquired defensive
specialist. I brought him in from Tucson yesterday in exchange for Derrick
Vickers and two draft picks."
Out comes Ray Lewis and he and Bender hold up a number 52 jersey.
Scott Bender -- "Ray will now speak with you guys and answer a few
questions."
Lewis steps up to the podium
Reporter -- "Ray, what are you looking forward to most about being
a Rattler."
Ray Lewis -- "It's almost impossible to narrow it down to one thing.
I really am happy to get a new beginning and to have the opportunity
to make a new legacy here in San Antonio. I want to play the rest of
my career here. I can tell you that right now. But there's another huge
thing that I'm looking forward to. I am getting the chance to play alongside
Preston Street. Folks this may have been the OIFL's best defense last
season, but next year it is going to be lights out. Now I'm going to
step aside because I know yall want to hear Scott's big news. But before
I go I'd like to thank San Antonio for this great welcome."
Ray Lewis steps down from the podium and exits the press room. Scott
Bender steps back up to the podium.
Scott Bender -- "Well now its on to the big news. We have traded
our E4-35 and a 2008 E2 to Fort Mac for the E3-4. Big thanks to Fort
Mac for making this deal happen. Okay, now I'll take questions from the
reporters."
Reporter --"I thought this press conference was about a change at
QB?"
Scott Bender--"Hmm... Where did you hear that? Pauses Haha, I'm
just playing with you guys. The big news was that we got that pick from
Fort Mac to complete a deal that is huge news. This deal means one thing,
a change at QB. Your hearing it here first because I have made sure that
no details of this deal have leaked to the press. We have officially
traded our quarterback of the past two years, Danny May, along with wideout
and defensive back, Trent Castle, and the E2-34 and E3-4 to the Dodge
City Daggers. The new quarterback of the San Antonio Rattlers is John
Wildman. He has the experience in this league to take us to the next
level and beyond and I can honestly say that this is as excited as I've
been since the day I took this job. Along with Wildman we have acquired
RBLB Salidad McCoullaugh, and DS Pat Govan. Both bring great depth to
our roster and we are happy to have them. Thats all I have for tonight.
We're going to get these new guys on a plane tomorrow and we're planning
on announcing them tomorrow night. God Bless."
Bender steps down from the podium and exits the press room.
There you have it folks. Danny May is out and John Wildman is in. Does
this take the Rattlers' to the next level and make them one of the top
contenders for the 2007 Cup? You be the judge.
