About the Artists

What experiance have you had before with other jobs that you have had?
Sarapha: "Well, it all depends on what you mean by job, really. I work at Burgerking, I have a ton of experience there, and if I'm properly motivated, I can be very organized."
Wraith: "I usually do my best and try for a better result next time"

How might you approach the project, and what kind of timelines are you looking at?
Sarapha: "The first thing I do with all projects is examine the request, or to think of a solid plot of the thing. Then after that, everything just normally falls into place."
Wraith: "I try to look at it from a third person point of view. And I try to get it done within a month."

How might you use the things you have done in other projects on this one?
Sarapha: "Well, my earlier projects were only things I used to mess around Photoshop in, so I could find out how to use the program. Each time I get a new one, I start with a basic picture of a flower or something, and I go through all the varius things you could do with it, and from that, I learn what I do now."
Wraith: "I might bring in certain elements that are popular and try to incorporate them into a whole new item."

What kind of a work ethic do you have?
Sarapha: "A lazy one, I'd say *laughs* Not really though. I'm really fast in filling out requests, and So far, I've gotten a 99% Satisfactory rate for my stuff. The 1% not was their fault. They gave me one picture of a guitar, said I couldn't use any others, and expected godly results. *goes off grumbling*"
Wraith: "I do my best and I try to produce a piece of work that will make the requester or the people looking at the things amazed"

Are you trustworthy and efficient?
Sarapha: "I like to think so, but it's really not my call to make, it's whoever uses my stuff."
Wraith: "I believe so."

How many projects have you done before?
Sarapha: "I've really lost count. In the earlier days, I focused so much on graphics, like banners for stories, I made so many. I can go to my Photobucket account and count them, but I don't have that kind of time, nor attention span."
Wraith: "I've done quite a few projects."

What type of graphic programs do you use?
Sarapha: "For the backgrounds, tables, and other graphical stuff, I use Photoshop CS3, Macromedia Fireworks, PhotoPlus 3, and for the simplier stuff, I do use the paint program. For coding, I go barehand and memory! Seriously. I don't use anything for my codes, unless I'm stuck on one, then I Google it."
Wraith: "I've been making graphics for about a year actually. But I've made a lot of stuff. I'm not so proud of my earlier work. I think I could've done better."

What is your favorite thing about this particular tool?
Sarapha: "I love all my photo editing things because of how I can take an ordinary picture of mine, and turn it into something fabulous. I'm considering doing my own Senior pictures."
Wraith: "The different things you can do with it. It's truly amazing."

What kind of experience do you have with making the graphics and layouts?
Sarapha: "Well, the graphics for them, I've been making similar for about 5 years. The coding feels fairly new to me, I started getting into it my freshmen year, like, almost 4 years ago."
Wraith: "I've been making graphics for about a year actually. But I've made a lot of stuff. I'm not so proud of my earlier work. I think I could've done better."

How did you get into making the graphics and layouts?
Sarapha: "I honestly don't remember. For the longest time, I knew basic HTML, and I guess I just grew from there."
Wraith: "Well, I used to post stories on a site called Quizilla. But since they've changed, I've stopped. Anyway, I first started out by making banners for my stories. And then it escalated to making banners and avatars for some of teh forums I belong to."

How did you learn to do the coding?
Sarapha: "The basic stuff was easy, because it was in one of my Middle school classes. The more advanced stuff, I learned on my own. By the time I hit my Junior year, I was already making fully functional websites. Still, I had to take Webpage Design One, which was basically middle school all over again. All well. Easy credit."
Wraith: "Sarapha's the Coding Mistress. I just copy, paste, edit where needed. lol"

How did you learn to do the graphics and pictures?
Sarapha: "For mine, I learned at school."
Wraith: "I taught myself mainly. I just started experimenting with different things. I love learning something new about PSP and Animation ship."

Was it easy to learn that stuff?
Sarapha: "Oh no, this stuff took so long, and frustrated me so much, I considered giving it up like, 8 times in the past."
Wraith: "Yeah, for me it was. As I said. I taught myself mainly."

What would you describe your personality as?
Sarapha: "Arrogant, self centered, friend loving, mean, manipulative, bossy, and a very good liar."
Wraith: "I would describe my personality as quiet and intellectual."

If you had to describe yourself (everything about you) in one word, what would it be and why?
Sarapha: "Unsatisfied. Normally, if I make something, I have to force myself to save it and leave it be so I stop getting so edgy about details."
Wraith: "Strange. I'm really weird."

What would your last words be?
Sarapha: "Fudgescicles."
Wraith: "Yeah, right. And my name is Lady Hitler."

Do you think you work well with others?
Sarapha: "Ehh... To a point. Like I said before, I'm very bossy. But I'm also open minded. So it's kinda just like... If they have a good idea, I accept it, but if I don't think it'll work. I voice my opinion. They normally get grouchy after that point."
Wraith: "Depends on who I'm working with really"

What would your idea of a few words be?
Sarapha: "Just that, a few words."
Wraith: "Back. Off. Before. I. Kill. You."

What are your past times besides the site?
Sarapha: "I love hanging out with my friends, playing with my puppy, RPG, I like to do random things with Photoshop(that is my favorite of them all), I love to read, write, draw, and I adore my job at Burgerking."
Wraith: "Writing, reading, RPing, and making graphics for fun."

Why do you make layouts/graphics?
Sarapha: "Well, it started off as a really good way to cure boredom, then I figured, I'll give people my ideas to share. So I did. Along with Wraith, this site's going to be awesome. In other ones, they let other people submit things, and it's very hard to find what you're looking for. Here, it's simple. Layouts to the right, Graphics to the left."
Wraith: "I find it relaxing. And sometimes I know how I want something done, but I don't know how to describe it for a request."

How long have you been making layouts/graphics?
Sarapha: "Graphics for about 5, Layouts, 4."
Wraith: "About a year."

What motivated you to start a layouts/graphics site?
Sarapha: "Boredom. Pure boredom."
Wraith: "I needed them for my stories and sites."

How can people request layouts/graphics?
Sarapha: "By clicking the button up at the top that says, "Requests". Yeah, we're that obvious."
Wraith: "There is a requesting link above. Click it then click Darkness' Graphic Center."

How long do the layouts/graphics usually take to finish?
Sarapha: "Well, it normally depends on the overall effort I put into it, as well as how detailed the request is. If they want everything perfect to the last point, it'll take longer than the one who told me to do what I want. On average, a layout takes about 3 days."
Wraith: "Anywhere between an hour to a month. I want to do my best and do different variations for the best quality."

What are your real names?
Sarapha: "Mine's Ashley, but I prefer Sarapha so much more. It has a story behind it, unlike Ashley."
Wraith: "I only give my real name to friends. You can call me Wraith"

How old are you?
Sarapha: "I'm 17, but I'll be 18 in January."
Wraith: "17, 18 in July."

What do you hope the future for the site holds?
Sarapha: "I'm actually hoping to turn it into a full fledged site, like one of those ones that people go to for stuff for their site. Maybe get some staff members to help us by moderating the site, maybe a few more Artists, I donno. Where ever it goes, I'll ride until the end."
Wraith: "I hope it will grow and flourish. I hope it'll become one of the most popular places out there for all your graphic/layout needs."

What are your favorite color schemes to use?
Sarapha: "I love using either black and red, black and blue, or black and green. They are more common with me."
Wraith: "Black and anything else. Usually black and red."

Tell us about your favorite layout that you've ever made.
Sarapha: "My favorite would have to be the Purple and Blue Juggalette one I made. the ones I use, I always customize it with 'Sarapha' on it."
Wraith: "Sarapha's the layouts but I tried my hand at it once. Failed miserably."

How old were you when you got into graphic/layouting design?
Sarapha: "12 for Graphic, 13 for layout"
Wraith: "I was 16 years old."

Do you plan on making this your career?
Sarapha: "Not my main career, no, but I would definatly like to continue the site through college, and well into my actual career as a Psychologist."
Wraith: "No, I do it for fun and to help people make their sites better. I don't think I could do it for money. And besides, I'm not really that good. lol"

What particular skills and qualities do you need to have to design a layout and such?
Sarapha: "Well, you need to have some skill with conputers, and deffinatly for the designing portion. Maybe good color scheming too, I donno."
Wraith: "I would say good color coordination and patience"

Was there a time when you got faced with a challenge when designing graphics/layouts? If so, how did you cope with it?
Sarapha: "Yeah. Sometimes, I get a perfect idea for something, but I don't know the code for it. Normally, I'll Google it, but if that doesn't work, I give up all together."
Wraith: "Yes there was, I dealt with it by taking my mind off of it and not pressuring inspiration."

To make this a career, are there certain college courses that are required to get into graphic/layouting?
Sarapha: "No doubt, webpage design for the coding, desktop design for the graphical, and probably an art class or two for the visual aspect."
Wraith: "I think the best ones would be Graphic and Design courses you can find them at most any college. But you don't really need it, I don't think, at least not to do it as an amateur. (Meaning, not for profit.)"

What are some positive things about this?
Sarapha: "It cures boredom fairly well, and keeps me busy *laughs again*"
Wraith: "With the courses you're more likely to make a lot of money with this."
