The Santa Ana Mountains Natural History Association (SAMNHA) is made up of dedicated volunteers who provide cost-free programs for the general public about natural history features of the Santa Ana Mountains and surrounding wilderness areas located in Southern California.  The Santa Ana Mountains Natural History Association is a partner with the Cleveland National Forest in providing these services free of charge to visitors of the Trabuco Ranger District.

Owl Banding at Thomas Riley Wilderness Park

 

Saturday July 18,  4pm  – 12 midnight

 

The Cleveland National Forest, Trabuco Ranger District and the Santa Ana Mountains Natural History Association invite the public to an evening hike, owl banding and insect lighting event.

 

Meet at Riley Wilderness Park.  Participants are welcome to arrive around 4PM to enjoy the park, take a hike, visit the nature center, bird watch, photograph, visit with forest and park staff and volunteers. The Owl Banding Team and the entomologists will be setting up during the late afternoon. If conditions are favorable, we may try to band some diurnal raptors during late afternoon.  Plan to stay late but you can leave at any time.
