The Sandpiper, despite its small LOA (5.65 metres), delivers a sense of sailing on a true keelboat, rather than on an enlarged dinghy. You can actually walk around the deck of this boat. It has adequate freeboard and a deep, roomy cockpit.
The boat comes with a forward hatch and a small anchor locker forward. The Sandpiper's cabin has some real lounging space and plenty of room to sleep two adults, and possibility one or two young children. (The advertising literature claims that this boat can sleep 4 adults).
The Sandpiper is trailerable, and its keel (ballasted daggerboard) retracts completely into the hull; a feature making the boat a cinch to launch or retrieve. With a total weight of 1700 pounds (including trailer), it is easily pulled behind a family car.
