Consider the math…

Consider the math…

The lovely lady in this picture was photographed in black and white circa 1925.  The photograph was scanned into a JPEG image by persons unknown and posted on the internet. I downloaded it and went to work.

I wrote the software that cut the figure out, colorized the figure, created the new background, pasted the figure into that background, all at the bit level.  In other words, I wrote the algorithms that assigned one of 16,777,216 possible colors to each of 480,000 pixels and came up with a pretty picture.

Consider the composition…

The balance in this picture is quite formal. The harsh vertical stripes bring the viewer’s attention to the center while the circle-square-circle pattern of the background brings the eye out again. The figures are highlighted with light areas of wispy hair to allow focus at the top of the picture and bring the eye away from the dominant yellow of the clothing. Once there, intersection with the final fading oval brings the viewers attention back to the bottom. The toes are faded to blue to avoid the “arrow effect” pointing out of the picture.

Consider the text…

By clearly and concisely explaining both the mathematic and artistic complexity of this picture, I hoped to demonstrate a considerable facility with the English language and the ability to make myself understood. If I have succeeded...

A Little More Info

How can you be duly impressed with the process if you haven’t seen the raw materials, right?  A hamburger is no big deal if you’ve never seen a cow.  So, here’s the cow.

Above is a very old photo of a lady in her sleeping attire.  On the right is the original sans background.  On the left is a colorized version subjected to my processes.  Please note that the lady on the left has been colorized and not tinted as with most of the major photo processing software available currently.  The difference being that in tinting all the colors from dark to bright in a color group such as the flesh tones, are simple mathematical  derivatives of each other.  Not so with my process, so my pictures have a little extra “pop” to them.  A little extra 3-D-ness.

More Semi-Big News!!!...

I have had several requests to put a link up to the old version of Sacks-O-Nuts so here it is. http://www.freewebs.com/sacksonuts/son211.zip  Sacks-O-Nuts is a dead issue at this point and there will be no support for this product. The code is too old to work with Windows Vista and I was planning an update... but then, I was planning to be rich too and neither one worked out.

This is an EXAMPLE karaoke rotation program.  Please don't try to use it at a show because you will just end up cursing me all the days of your life and I have enough of that happening already.  I only spent about ten minutes writing it so this is really just a starting point for this project.  http://www.freewebs.com/sacksonuts/rotation.exe

Here's how it works.  (Note: sing-one-bring-one does not work at this time)

Type a Singer's name where it says "Singer Name."

Click the Add Button on the right.

After that singer has sung, double click the name and he goes to the bottom of the list.

Using the default "Big Wheel" rotation, new singers will be added in the display after the first active singer in rotation.*

Get rid of a singer by single clicking the name and then the "Del" button.

What is big wheel rotation?

Imagine a large pizza pan with a nail through the center of it so it can spin.  Now put your first singer's request slip in the pan and spin it to the left a little.  Now add your next singer's request slip and keep doing that until your out of singers.  Now, put the pan back so the pizza pan has the first singer's slips nearest you.  Once that singer has his turn you rotate the pan to the second singers slip and so on.  Each time a new singer shows up he gets added to the end of the line on your pizza pan.  Personally, I don't use this method but it is the most popular so I impliment it first.
