CONFERENCE RECORDINGS AVAILABLE

The 14th Annual Oregon Christian Home Education Conference
was amazing. Dr. Baucham encouraged more than 1,600 homeschoolers
during the keynote sessions. The messages from Dr. Baucham, Mark Hamby, Carol Barnier and others are available on CD. If you missed the conference,
you don’t have to miss the great encouragement families received at the conference. You can order CDs of the 2008 conference online at www.oceanetwork.org or by mail with the order form online.

CLASSES - FIELD TRIPS - IDEAS

Sound Jubilee music education program for home educated children will begin it's tenth year this fall.  The format will be somewhat different this year.  We are still offering band, violin and choirs for children and teens, but will be meeting only Thursday afternoons instead of two afternoons per week.

George Callen teaches the band program (beginning, intermediate and advanced levels) and will direct the teen choir.  Anna Hesse will be teaching violin; and Mary Dixon will lead the children's choir.

Tuition is $40 per month for band, violin, or choir.  But students enrolled in one of the instrumental programs may take choir also for an additional $10.  There is a sliding scale for families with three or more children enrolled.  An annual registration fee ($10) and a facilities use fee ($20) are also charged per family.

For more information visit our web site at soundjubilee.org.  (The web site will be updated to reflect this year's changes during the first week in August.)  You may also contact George or Ellen Callen at
soundjubilee@gmail.com or 503-623-4344.  Registration materials and a handbook will be sent by e-mail upon request, and registration may be completed by mail.

Science Camp

Creationist  Christian Homeschool Outdoor School
 Science Camp

September 5 to 9 2008  [Friday noon to Tuesday noon]
 Our 19th year!
$140 for campers; $90 for adults
Held at Cispus Learning Center near Mt St Helens, WA
Designed for age 9 to age 16

Cispus Learning Center is located in deep forest two hours north of Portland, near Mt St Helens. It is a wonderful facility for children and adults
with many miles of hiking trails, creeks, open meadows and comfortable modern facilities. The heated cabins have bathrooms with showers. A full size gym and a modern dining facility are just a short walk from the cabins. The 2008 camp theme will be VOLCANOES and campers will participate in day trips to the cone of Mt St Helens.
Homeschool Science Camp is committed to teaching students about the wonders of natural things and events, in the context of a "hands-on" outdoor classroom. With a Biblical perspective and an emphasis on creation, campers learn about science in fun, innovative ways. The campers will develop a thoughtful appreciation for and a knowledge of the world that God created for our benefit. They will learn more about God’s handiwork and gain a proper understanding of the amazing interdependence of life in our universe. We provide a positive group living experience with opportunities to meet new Christian friends who also homeschool. Individuals will develop sound health habits and attitudes by providing and maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment in all areas of camp. A typical camp day includes 2 morning science classes, 2 afternoon recreation periods, evening creation lecture, campfire, 3 great meals and lots of supervised fun.
SCIENCE AREAS Geology; Volanoes, Erosion, Astronomy; River and stream life; Rockets; Friction; Leverage; Knots; Fire Building; Ornithology; Animal Kingdom; Cycle; Interaction; Forestry; Classification; Dinosaurs (classes & recreation vary with available instructors)
RECREATION Archery; Crafts; Hiking Trails; Large gym for basketball & volleyball; Large field for soccer & nature games; Fun skits during evening campfire
Creationist, Christian, Outdoor School Science Camp was started by Christian homeschool parents who wanted their children to have an Outdoor School learning experience in the safety of other Christian homeschooled children and adults. All staff including the director are volunteers- no one is paid. All staff are carefully screened for integrity and Christian maturity. A typical camp will see 100 children and 25 or more adults in attendance. Science Camp is non-denominational and is for Christians who believe in creation, love science and enjoy the outdoors.  As always, PARENTS are strongly encouraged (but are not required) to attend as cabin counselors or teachers in areas of expertise. A $50 deposit will hold a place at camp. Balance is due by August 15. A full set of forms (with more information!) will be sent when the deposit is received. The following web pages at this site contain all the information on the forms we normally mail so you may print them off and save us all some postage!
