Golden Jubilee Celebration...

Shyamnagar Sabuj Sangha is celebrating it's 50 years of glory. It is one
of the few Sports Club that produced a horde of great players in
various field of sports. Great Players like Mr. Subrata Bhattacharjee,
Mr. Prasanta Mitra, Mr. Sumit Mukherjee are all from this temple of
sports.
The presence of

- Mr. Sourav Ganguly(ex-Captain of Indian Cricket Team)
- Mr. Sailen Manna(Great footballer of India, represented Olympic)

- Mr. Subrata Bhattacharjee(ex-player of Indian National Football Team and Arjun award winer)
and many more honourable persons made the golden
jubilee celebration of our club a memorable event.
Some Olympians had been felicitated on that occasion,like Mr. Sailen Manna,
Mr.Leslie Claudius and Mr. Kesto Paul. A panel of great sports persons of

Geographical Position :
Shyamnagar(North 24 parganas) is 35 km north from Kolkata.
It is surrounded by Jagatdal industrial Area in the north,
Ichapur(renowned for Gun & shell factory) in the south,
Kalyani expressway in the east and river Ganges in the west.
Population :
Shyamnagar is a vastly populated area, most of the inhabitants
are in service or business.
Nationalism :
Several freedom fighters from Shyamnagar participated in the
freedom struggle and sent to prison by British Government.
Netaji Subhas Ch Bose was arrested by British Police at
Shyamnagar while he was going to attend a meeting of Bangyo
Patkal Mazdoor Samity.
Heritage :
Maharaj Gopimohan Thakur, the King of Mulajore(Shyamnagar)
established Brahmamoyee Kalibari in 1809 on the bank of river
Ganges.
Literature :
In the field of Bengali literature, Shyamnagar occupied its place
from 17th century. Bharat Chandra Roygunakar, the famous author of
ANNADAMANGAL KABYA, a library in his name has celebrated its centenary
this year. Rangalal Mukhopadhyay, Troilakhya Nath Mukhopadhyay and
Harimohan Mukhopadhyay is remembered for their rich contribution in
Bengali and English literature.
Cultural :
Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, famous classical singer was born and
brought up at Shyamnagar.

place in the map of Indian Sports.

Sri Kesto Pal a perticipant of 1956 Melbourne Olympic.
Sri Ashoke Lal Banerjee, ex-captain East Bengal Club,
representative of India in international football.
Sri Prasanta Mitra, ex-captain Mohunbagan Club and
representative of India in International football, Asian Games
and also a member of the only gold winning Indian Youth team.
Sri Subrata Bhattacharjee, ex-captain and coach Mohunbagan Club,
played for Mohunbagan for more than 17 years, representative of India
in many international tournaments, Asian Games and also awarded ARJUN by
President of India.
Sri Sumit Mukherjee, ex-footballer, Mohunbagan and East Bengal
Club and also representive of India in international football.
The contributions ofMiss Rumeli Dhar a star participent of last
Women Cricket World Cup and is currently playing for Indian Women Cricket
Team.
Sri Subhankar Mallick a deaf cricket player, played for Indian
Deaf Cricket Team at Pakistan this year.
Sri Anirban Chatterjee representative of Bengal in Ranji Trophy
cricket matches.
Sri Kamal Chatterjee a renowned athlete and participant of the
1st Asian Games, Delhi.
Ms.Debi Bose, an athlete, representative of India on Asian Games.
All of them have proved that Shyamnagar is not only the producer of star
footballers but also the producer of stalwarts in every sphere of sports.
