National Institute of Technology(NIT) Hamirpur came into existance in the year 1986 as a Regional Engineering College(REC). It was given the status of Deemed University in April 2003 and was named as NIT.
In the race of Technical institutes NIT Hamirpur may be considered as a new born institute-because in actual sense it entered the race in 2003,when it was made NIT. talking of it's rising pace,it can't be considered as a new institute. this statement shall be justified only if you visit NITcampus.
Apart from individual improvements in Departments & Hostels, the latest feathers in the hat of NIT Hamirpur are:
-Local Area Network(LAN) connectivity inside the institute along with internet in every hostel & staff residences.
-A well equipped,great looking Auditorium came into function from 14'th Oct.
It's a multipurpose building,housing facilities such as: sitting capacity of around thousand people, centralised a.c, digital dolby sound system.Also latest movies are shown here every fortnightly:).
-Huge amount of quality books added in the institute library. There's a project undergoing to make the library online, hence soon residents of NIT Hamirpur will be able access library books from their respective rooms.
