During the Fall Semester 2004, I'm taking a 2D animation class. We're talkin' sketching the same pictures over and over again with subtle changes to create movement. No computer trickery... yet. Here are some of my efforts. You may ignore all eraser marks please.
You might want to download these first (right click), and play them from your own computer so you get the right speed.
Bouncing Ball - Indeed, a bouncing ball. Here, I am encouraged to throw physics aside and give the ball life. This is done with Stretch-and-Squash tequnique.
Head Turn - We received two drawings of this character from our workbook, and were verbally told the motion he needed. Note the blink as well.
T-Rex Walk Cycle - Animate any character in a walk cycle. I chose a dinosaur. Don't know why... Note the arm movement opposite the legs, the tail, the mouth, the bobbing head.
Run, Walk, and Look - Animate a character doing all three. The character is again a workbook stock character and not original.
Thrower - Given the first frame, animate the character getting up, picking up the ball, throwing it off-screen, and exiting in whatever way you desire (tee hee). This was a bit rushed, or I would have more inbetween frames to smooth it out.
Exagerated Take - I decided to use an original character instead of stock, and it cost me in quantity because of too much quality. Still, the bear fulfills the requirement of reeling back and then leaning forward.
