Rushmore Equestrian Club

We are holding a fun General Knowledge Quiz at Brass Crosby Room, St Martin of Tours Church, Church Road, Chelsfield BR6 7SN (off A224).  It will start at 8pm, doors open from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 per person, for teams of two to six people per team.  Nibbles are provided, but please bring your own drinks and glasses. Tea and coffee will be for sale also.

Rushmore will be hosting the BRC Area 10 Equine Quiz at Pratts Bottom Village Hall.  The quiz will start at 8pm.  This is for teams of 4 and will cover a range of equine subjects.  If any Rushmore member would like to be in a team please contact Wendy Smith.

Any other Riding Club members will need to contact your secretary or team organiser.

We have arranged a lecture at the Greenwood Rooms, Green St Green, Orpington on 17 February starting at 8pm.  The talk will be on Bowen therapy given by Martine Weber.   Tickets available on the door at £5 REC members and £7 non members.

This is the first in a series of lectures on alternative equine treatments, the Bowen Technique is a gentle, non-intrusive, hands-on holistic therapy which stimulates the body's inner ability to heal itself. It works on the soft tissue and is useful for a wide range of conditions including unlevelness, disunited gait, stiffness on one rein, 'cold back' or sore back and deteriorating performance. It can bring increased energy levels and pain relief.

Martine Weber is a registered Equine Bowen Therapist, horse trainer and former event rider who will be demonstrating the technique on human volunteers.

The Bentley Technique

In the second of our series of talks on alternative therapies and methods, renowned author and classical horsemanship trainer Joni Bentley will be explaining her approach which combines the Alexander Technique and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), the study of behaviour patterns, to enable riders to achieve stress-free results with their horse. She will explore straightness and the biomechanics of riding.

Joni will be speaking at the Greenwood Centre, High Street, Green Street Green, Orpington on Wednesday, March 17 at 7.30pm. A note for your diary. Our dressage series will start on 10 April, then 8 May, 5 June ending with the Championship on 10 July.  This event will take place at Chelsfield Equestrian Centre, Church Road, Chelsfield, Kent and will start at 6pm. A schedule will be available shortly.

A note for your diary. We will be running some jumping shows at Polhill Place Equestrian Centre, Oftord Lane, Halstead on 18 April and 12 September.  A schedule will be available in the new year.

The committee would welcome any offers of help from members or friends (or anyone who may be interested!), to help at any of our shows.  We need help opening and shutting the door/gate for the school to allow competitors leaving and entering the arena, help with refreshments or adding up scores, putting jumps up/away etc.
