Sadly, from time to time, we are all confronted with the sad passing of a beloved friend. This is no exception......
Well I figured I might introduce my darling Curtis to you all and share his claim to fame.
Australian Champion Jasetpark Genesis Senior Earth Dog....12/2/01 - 28/2/05 (?)
He came to me from my sister in law Joanne, and he was such a special man for me, not only in what he won, which really isn't as important as what he meant to me.
This man came to me in a rather "dark" period of my life...I was virtually a recluse' after my nasty car accident and he gave me the confidence and strength to face my "worthless" life once again and to actually mix with other people.
We embarked on a show career and had many fumbles along the way..I am not as gifted as some in the handling department..and after many "knockers remarks".... we managed to get his Australian Champion title.
But Curtis didn't stop there...he wanted to show more and more which we did, and with all his hard work, he accumulated a total of 953 points at under 4 yrs of age. He also excelled at the inground hunts. He was attempting his Master Earth Dog when he sadly went missing from my life. He wandered off as we were unloading the last of our belongings from our trailer...just turned around and he was gone. The girls were here, but no Curtis. I have spent thousands of dollars looking for him, and driven and walked many areas. I don't know if he is still alive or if he sadly met his fate. As you can imagine the not knowing is the hardest emotion to deal with.
Before his departure... he won 4 Best in Terrier Groups, 15 Reserve to Best in Terrier Groups, many Best Of Breeds and Challenges, numerous classes in group, 4 classes in show. These awards were all at All breeds Shows. He was also Reserve to Best in Show to his daughter Myrtle at a JRTCA show.
He was also the mascot for the Summer Childrens Festival at the Qld Art Gallery..Nature and Technology, where he adorned the flags in the city, sides of buses and bus shelters and also appeared on Channel 10 Brisbane advertising the exhibition in a television ad.
His favourite things were the bed...he used to get into the doona cover, the pool, hunting, eating spaghetti WITH garlic bread thankyou very much
and standing on the window sill at our old house waiting for Rach to get off the bus from school.
“Thankyou for the things you taught me
Thankyou for all the joy you brought me
Thankyou for holding me close
When I needed you most”
With his amazing temperament, and absolute love for his human family.....I am eternally in debt to this man. If you are watching from Rainbow Bridge Curtis....I hope it was a quick and painless death....and one full of honour and you deserved that my dear friend.....
I will never forget you or what you did for me, which was give me back my life.
Hasta Manana...till we meet again.....

Hasta Manana...little girl.
When we lose a special friend, it truly makes us realise just how precious life is.
