This is the website for the Running Horses Roleplaying and Wargames Club. We are small informal group that meet every Thursday evening at the Running Horses Public House in Erith. The venue is perfectly suited to gaming as we have the entire upper floor with its tables and space.

At present this site is only representative of one table within the club, but as an when material comes in we will be adding additional material.

The Running Horses is a Public House near the Thames waterfront in Erith, SE London. Its origins can be dated back to 1810 when a William Kempton (Kimpton) held the license. Then it was right on the waterfront, but building and in-filling have moved the waterfront further back.   Click here for a map of how to reach the Running Horses PH

Currently only Paul and I (Andy) are producing game pages with the support of all the other player/GMs within our group.

Angel rpg by Eden Studios

Please click above to access Paul's Dark Angeles Page

After our experience with Buffy rpg, the group wanted to play more so Paul will be running an campaign that is set in the Universe Gaz created for his Buffy game. His campaign, entitled Dark Angeles will be set after the end of Angel Season 3.

Eden's Uni-System is the perfect system to adapt existing characters as well as allow for the inclusion of new PCs that can fit into the campaign.

Bitten by Kelly Armstrong

Welcome to the Otherworld...

A world where your co-worker could be a werewolf. She won't bother you, though it might be wise to forgo those midnight walks in the forest. Best not to tempt fate. A world where your neighbour could be a witch. Don't bother asking her for a love potion. She prefers spells of true magic, sometimes darker than she can handle.

Based on the series of books by Kelley Armstrong, the game revolves around 'The Pack' a group of werewolves led by Jeremy Lucas. Lucas, a reclusive painter, lives in a manor house near Derby.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer rpg by Eden Studios

Please click above to access Paul's Teddy the Vampire Slayer Page

Buffy the Vampire rpg - Eden Studios. This is a fantastic game based upon the excellent series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The production is top notch and the way they have adapted their Uni-system rules to perfectly simulate the feel for the series is amazing. The combat is fast, easy to run and descriptive enough to allow you to re-create the series on the gaming table.

Gary is currently running a Buffy (actually Teddy) campaign which you can read about by clicking the image above.

Call of Cthulhu by Chaosium

Please click above to access the Paul's Call of Cthulhu Index Page

Call of Cthulhu. This rpg is a firm favourite that has stood the test of time. After all these years it still exists in essentially the same format that it did when it was originally published way back in the early 1980s. Steve runs a 1920s Call of Cthulhu campaign that takes the characters to various times and places. Gary is running a 1920s England-based campaign as well as a 1930s America based one. Andy has a Medieval CoC Campaign and a Modern game utilising the rules from the rpg Millennium's End favourite rpg of the group (although many will argue in favour of other games)

Cthulhu Dark Ages by Chaosium

Please click above to access Andy's CoC Dark Ages/Medieval Page

Call of Cthulhu Dark Ages by Chaosium is an alternative setting for Cthulhu campaigns. It is an excellent book containing a complete set of rules as well as background for the period. There is enough within this book to allow newcomers to the game to be able to play as well as keep experienced CoC GMs and players interested. Andy currently has a Cthulhu~Medieval campaign set in Twelfth Century England. The story revolves around the journey of a few characters from Winchester to Glastonbury Abbey in the thick of winter.

D20 Dungeons and Dragons by Wizards of the Coast

Please click above to access Paul's D&D Page

What can you say about D&D? Thirty years old and still popular. If you want to be the Hero's Hero then this is still high on the list. now in its third major incarnation (D20) everyone has their favourite.

Liz is currently running a Third Ed. game where a small but heroic band battle against the myriad forces of darkness.

You can read the diary of the characters and experience their adventures by clicking on the image above.

Fates Worse Than Death rpg by Vajra Enterprises

There is no link for a FWTD page yet, but the Tales of the River Rat are coming soon.

Fates Worse Than Death is a wonderfully detailed rpg that, to be honest, is worth buying simply to read. There is a warning that your brain will explode if you attempt to do this in one go, so be warned! The game is set in the New York on 2080 and concerns gang life. The PCs all play members of one group or another. The rules contain all the background of the city, from its past up to its future, gang (or class) descriptions including detailed backgrounds and specific rules, a comprehensive equipment section and they still found space for the rules system. Gaz has run a few games set in this rather bleak version of New York and they’ve been very popular.

Kult rpg by Target Games

Please click above to access Paul's Kult Page

Kult is a game set in the world of large cities at the end of the twentieth century. It is a world where human wickedness is mingled with terrors from other parts of a true unseen reality. Fascism still pervades politics and commerce. Sensitive people are crushed by the anonymity of the cities and become psychotic monsters. Primitive passions grow and fester until they erupt in sick perversions. The hero's of the game are vehicles of destiny, bound to act in myths that they have never heard of, myths that people have forgotten, myths that are the truth.

Millennium's
	 End by Chameleon Electric

Please click above to access Andy's Millennium's End Zombies Campaign Page

Millennium's End is a roleplaying game set in the modern techno-thriller genre. It has an excellent combat system involving the use of transparant overlays of drawings of figures. Andy has run several Mill End games, but in his usual manner he has converted it to different settings. The group ran a short Twilight 2000 game using this rule set, which went very well. Later, Andy started a Call of Cthulhu Modern campaign which also worked very well except for the need to draw alien/monster body maps! Paul's notes on this campaign can be reviewed in our Call of Cthulhu section. More recently, Andy has run Mill End using the remake of Dawn of the Dead as a setting which you can review by clicking on the image.

Serenity rpg by Margaret Weis Productions

Please click above to access Paul's Serenity Page

Based on the TV Series 'Firefly' and the follow-up film 'Serenity' by Joss Weedon. It has been described as Cowboys and Indians in Space. The campaign, being run by Steve, follows the adventures of the diverse crew of the Space Transport "Gettysberg".

Traveller T4 by Imperium Games

We will soon by adding a Traveller page to our website

Some will argue that Traveller was the original sci fi roleplaying game, and I can't think of any that preceed it. Its gone by at least six editions by various games publishers and is still here.

Gaz has run the Long Way Home campaign at the Running Horses and now plans to run The Traveller Adventure, a scenario he says that he has had for twenty years!

Twilight 2000 rpg by Games Workshop

Please click above to access Andy's Twilight 2000 Page

Twilight 2000 is a post-apocalyptic rpg set after a nuclear war. The first edition was written back in the late 80s and it was conceivable that the West and the Soviet Block could go to war. Andy runs a campaign using Edition 2.2 and we assume that it’s an alternative reality.

The campaign follows the adventures of a small British unit as they struggle to survive post-nuclear-exchange Poland. The campaign tries to be character-based so that real stories are told, rather than a campaign of constant combat.
