Runaway Rabbitry

Flemish Giants

We are a small family rabbitry and chicken organization devoted to the love, care and continuation of specific breeds of bunnies and chickens. On this site we hope to show the type and quality of rabbits we are trying to breed.  We very seldom offer any of our rabbits to unknown buyers but periodically we do have a few that we are unable to place on our list of predetermined buyers.  We offer pedigreed rabbits and are willing to answer any questions that we may be able to answer.  If we don't know the answer we will be more than happy to help you hunt for the answer.  We often take in rescue bunnies when room in our barn is available, some are available for adoption.  All of our rabbits are vet checked and documented before they are sold.  We will have them neutered if that is your desire as well.

We started our barns almost by accident, a love for rabbits developed as children by the story of the Runaway Bunny.  An ad posted in a neighborhood grocery for a free rabbit led us a rabbit bought for a child as an Easter gift.  This little bunny had become, like a lot of Easter Bunnies, an inconvenience.  A dog had been using her as a chew toy and they were desperate for someone to take her before she ended up dead. So she came to live in our house. We had a son addicted to Toy Story, the rabbit smelled due to wounds that had become abscessed, she became known as Stinky Pete and it stuck.  Time and care healed her and now she lives as the elder of the barn, watching over all the little ones, and resting nightly on clean alfalfa as she prefers that to a rug.

Please Help the Angoras

We have recently removed Angora from our website. We  have English that are our show bunnies which we periodically breed if someone expresses an overwhelming urge to have a bunny from one of our bucks or does, however due to recent overwhelming drop offs of bunnies, (predominately angoras of many undetermined origin) we are hoping that by eliminating them from our site people will not be able to google us as readily.  They are a great deal of work and require so much time it  has become too much and we feel it would be better to just devote our energies to our Flemish and the rescue buns.  These little angora's when dumped on our farm are usually in such horrible shape they require hours of time just to remove mats and foreign matter from their wool.  We will post them on our rescue pages when they have recovered enough to be adopted out.  This does not mean we will not take them in as rescues or if someone is in dire need of placing one.  We just hope that it will eliminate the inclination to get one of theses buns as a kit, and then when it gets beyond the cute bunny stage people just dump them.  If you have one that needs placing, PLEASE just email us.  If you dump them in our outside rabbit runs and we are not home, they can get into enough mischeif to hurt them selfs or breed or hurt each other and that is something we dont want happening again.

Thank you
