Introduction

Runescape Cheating at a Glance
Runescape is a game that is played online. This means that memory hacks such as Stat Editors and Item Duplicators will not work. Only the specially designed one from RS Gold Dragons. If you ever come across someone selling either one of those two, you should know that it is a scam. It should also be known that the only way known to cheat in Runescape is to use a program that performs tasks for you, nobody has yet "hacked" Runescape. Most Runescape cheat programs require scripts. A script is a body of text that commands a bot to perform a certain task. For example, several scripts exist that can mine, fish, cut wood and walk for you. Below is what a script to mine coal would look like in pseudocode:

Of course, it is not that simple. Scripts are loaded into Bots, and most bots require their own scripts. In this guide, we will mostly discuss Scar scripts, and how to work them, but we will glance at other things as well.
In the year 2004 Jagex released Runescape 2. Runescape (now known as Classic) had suffered from hundreds of cheaters using a program called AutoRune by Kaitnieks. You will hear his name often, so I better tell you who he is. Kaitnieks developed the first Runescape cheats that were perfect. Some of them are still used today. Now back to AutoRune. With AutoRune it was discovered that you could do amazing things. AutoRune was not a find-ore-color-on-screen-and-click bot, it edited the packets sent to the Runescape server, which is one reason why it is so good. The infamous Duping and Banker Killing were done with AutoRune. It is crucial to know that AutoRune is not free anymore and only functions properly with Runescape Classic, any "Free versions" you may come across are nothing but Free keyloggers. The only free and working one for RS2 which is not a keylogger i sth eone on this site. AutoRune was the first bot that I used for Runescape, and it worked pretty well until it was sold, and was selling for way too much money per auth. After that I completely forgot about Runescape Cheating and didnt come back until around September 2004, when I found a link to Sythe's website on FGF Forums. I downloaded his Automater and started using it to buy feathers, and I also used his powerminer. Both worked very well, and I became interested again in Cheating when i found a link to RuneCMS.

Clients
A Runescape Client is a stand-alone desktop application of Runescape. You can download SytheScape Reloaded, by far the best client, from RuneCMS.com. Other popular clients are R-Legit by Reines, go to www.rei-net.org for more information, and MGC by MG and Cheater, for now the beta is at www.theautominer.org/ .
OCR
The idea of an OCR was made for Runescape Classic when jagex introduced Fatigue. Fatigue made cheating nearly impossible. Your skill Xp would stop increasing if you were too tired, and you would have to sleep, and type a scrambled word upon awakening. This is when Kaitniek's had the idea of developing SleepWalker.
It was June 10th, 2003 when Kaitnieks posted his idea on Bovine Labs forums. If you want to read his original post on Bovine Labs, download the html file Here.
OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition. Their are several OCR's that are available today, one being OOCR. You can get OOCR at RsCheatNet, but it will cost you a pretty penny, and gets about 95% of the words correct. Remember, you only need to use an OCR for Runescape Clasic cheating.
Scar
Scar is the best scriptable macro for Runescape 2 and Classic so far, and was also made by Kaitnieks. Scar is a color click automater, meaning that you specify the colors of , for example, an ore of iron in a script and Scar searches for that color on the screen, and then performs the next task you tell it to do in a script, which would be right click the ore and click mine. There is a wide variety of scripts that you can use for Scar, or you can write your own. For now, we will use ready made scripts. Below we take a closer look at the IDE of Scar.

1. Script Box: The script box is where you paste scripts. The numbers to the left of the script box are there to help you refer to a certain line of a script. For example, in the diagram above, line 333 is where you End a procedure.
2.CrossHair: The crosshair is the object you have to click and drag to the Runescape game window and then release in order for Scar to determine which window should the script be performed on. You may get an error saying that "Scar doesnt work at its best with Sun Java" , but if you do, ignore this because it will work fine. You only have to drag the crosshari to the Runescape window when you have setup your script and are ready to macro. We wil learn about setting up scripts later.
3.Start and Stop buttons: To run a script, you click the green arrow, which is the start button. Likewise, to stop a script, you click the red box.
4.Eye Dropper: I mentioned earlier that Scar searches for the color of the object (fish, tree, ore) that you want to perform the task on. So , how do I get the color? you may be asking yourself. To get the color of an object, open runescape and go to where you can see it in the game. Now open scar and click on the eyedropper. Move the eyedropper over the object, so it is the same color as it. Now click the left mouse button and return to scar. You will see something like this:

The first number, before the "at" is the color converted into an integer. That is the colro you will use in your script. The second two numbers are the coordinates at which you got the color. We dont have to worry about coordinates.
Anatomy of a Scar Script
Here we will look closer at an example Scar Script, and we will learn how to set it up to work correctly. Most people decide to use something short and easy for their guides like autotalker's, but that doesnt show anyone how to use scar for Runescape purpses. Therefore, we will be using CanadaRules' Free Maple Cutter. Now, most scripts require the use of Includes. What an Include is, is a pre-written script made by someone that you can base your scirpts upon. Examples of Include's are Library by Pplsuqbawlz and OSI by Odie. Below is the link to a include pack that you need to get for scar to work properly.
Includes
They all must be unzipped into the Scar "Script" folder. to do this right click on the Includes Archive and click "Extract Files...". Now copy and paste this into the Destination Path text box: C:\Program Files\SCAR113\Scripts . That will put the includes into Scar's Script fodler so you can refer to them in scirpts. First off, copy the whole script and paste it into Scar. Done? Now we are ready to set it up to work for you. In most scripts, you can find directions on how to set it up in the first copuple of lines. This script tells you to have the map facing North, highest angle, set V-bright on (in Runescape go to the wrench icon and set Brightness to V bright) , use Low detail, Silent mouse off (in scar go to tools and uncheck silent mouse) to start in Seers bank and have your axe Wielded, not in your inventory. All of that is pretty easy to comprehend, so get on it. When you are done, we will take a look at setting up the colors.
Now, look at lines 50-55. The Blue text always indicates numbers in Scar, and anything between ' and' will be recognized as text. First, this script requires the minimap rare tree color , which is the Icon of the tree above Seer's bank. So, use your eyedropper to click on the green part of the tree icon. now look at scars debug box ( the bottom white box) and you will see the colors. Copy the Color's number and paste it where "358664" is. That will tell Scar to look for the tree icon's color and walk to it to start cutting. Now finish filling in the colors of all of the indicated objects from line 50-55, includeing typing your username and passsword in between the ' and ' (dont worry, its harmless). When you are done, drag the crosshair to Runescape and let go. Now click the green arrow in Scar, the run button.
It doesnt matter really if this script works for you or not, it is for learning purposes. You now should understand how to set up a scar script and prepare it to be run. I will now briefly discuss how the script was structured. in the beginning of every script, variables and constants are declared. Contsants in this script are permanent non-changing integers and strings such as the username and password of your character, adn all the colors. Variables are changing integers, such as coordinates. Now, every task that a scar script must perform is stored in a procedure. An example of one procedure could be "MineOres" and another one could be "BankOres". Everything below the name of the procedure until the "end" command is the code for the procedure. I took the following procedure out of the above woodcutting script that we used as an example:

Notes on Programming
I am dedicating this section to tell about some Runescape related information that interests me. I think that it is important for everyone to understand that Runescape was made in Java. Java is a network programming language made by Sun Microsystems leader's Bill Joy and James Gosling. Ithas a C like syntax, but is much easier to learn. i am currently trying to learn Java.
Most Runescape cheats you will come across are made in Microsoft's Visual Basic programming language. VB (Visual Basic for short) has a powerful IDE that allows creation of applications very fast. Then their are also Java bots. As I mentioned, Runescape was made in Java. So, you may be thinking, why re-write a bot for Runescape if it is going to be in the same language? Well you dont have to. Now people are editing Runescape's source code to make a bot out of the game itself. What do I mean? For example, you can change the Runescape code so that if the F1 key is pressed, your character will start mining. An exmaple of this type of Bot porgramming is the client ScarScape which removes the color change in Runescape and locks the map north, allowing flawless Scar macroing. Another example are the popular Rsc bots American Bot by Pntbllfrk and Sbot by RichyT. For more information and download links for these bots see below.
Kaitniek's programs, Scar and AutoRune, were both made in a language called Delphi. Scar scripts are written in an almost identical language, called Pascal. Likewise, Sbot scripts are made in Java. One bot that has it's own scripting language is American bot, mentioned above. American Bot scripting is very easy to learn, and it is a very good Rsc bot. AutoRune also uses its own unique scripting language.

Protection
Unfortunately, there is quite alot of scamming happening these days in the Runescape Cheating Communties. Most scammer infect cheap outdated Runescape programs with software that will log your keystrokes, including passwords. This is why it is crucial to make sure you are downloading cheats from a trusted souce, and make sure that the program is verified to be clean by someone else before downloading it yourself. If however you feel you have a keylogger, here is a list of programs that will help you get rid of it.

Auto Rune
|
AutoRune is/was a scriptable RuneScape cheat. AutoRune was not a color clicker, it redirected RuneScape client to itself and acted like a proxy, analyzing and injecting connection data to both directions. Also it was the very first scriptable Runescape cheat and the script language was very easy to learn. It could do everything - autowalk, autofight, automine, autofish, autosell, autobank, autotrade and even PK, you name it. AutoRune used to be dead, but Josh fixed it. His version is somewhat limited but it works.
