The story of Final Fantasy IX starts off with a group of thieves disguised as actors heading to the city of Alexandria to perform a play. Their real objective is to kidnap Princess Garnet and take her to Lindblum. Later on, it turns out that the Princess wants to runaway from home for her own reasons. She wants to run away to Lindblum and see her uncle there. This irony surprises Zidane, the main character, who is a member of the thief group. With the two sides both having the same objective, they set off on a journey to Lindblum. Being the princess's mother, the queen is angered by this and she and her knights go after them. On the journey to Lindblum, Garnet befriends Zidane. This is the point where the adventure begins in FFIX. They eventually meet different people that join them on their journey. Then they learn about the past of the world of Gaia. The story of FFIX is very well developed in terms of presenting and giving insights of each of the unique characters.
