Hiroshi's World! Chapter Six: A Tale Untold

Kajin, a mischeivous theif from Momorin Village had now joined our promising heroine, Sakura, and her companions Rikku and Orochi on their journey to free the Guardian Spirits from the world, Gaia. Kajin had been keeping a book that he stole long ago from the palace, on the Guardian Spirits, which is what the group is now using to aid them on their journey. From Kaichitoka, they headed even further to the East, to find Zephyr, the spirit of the wind. They decided to set up camp once again, as a blanket of stars fell across the land...

Sakura: Where exactly can we expect to find Zephyr? I don't think it'll be as obvious as last time...

Orochi: That is true... we'll have to consider whatever prominent locations there are to the East, and make our decisions based on those facts.

Rikku: But there are probably tons of different cities... we'll never know for sure which one will know about Zephyr...

Orochi: Perhaps that map you brought from your village could help?

Sakura: Yeah, maybe... hmm... *checks map* The nearest city to this place is... Utsumora. And... oh? Kajin, it looks like your Momorin isn't too far from it! Perhaps we could stop there first and get the locket back?

Kajin: Yes, that would be a good idea. I apologize for any trouble that I'm causing you, Orochi. You simply must understand... it is the way of the theif. We live off of what is not our own. We do not have the means to sustain ourselves, and so... we must take it from others. You may think it to be selfish, but if it weren't for old man Kaichitoka... we wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place.

Rikku: You mean the King? What did he do to your people?

Kajin: Well, he took away our farmland and erected his own military fortresses and shelters. We have nothing to keep us alive, or to gain money from. That is why we are theives. We've tried reasoning with him, but it just never worked. He's as stubborn as a mule. I can't stand living in a world that's ruled by him...

Orochi: He seemed rather kind to us until we mentioned the Guardian Spirits... Perhaps he uses that kindness to hide his true nature...

Rikku: There's no way that conversation is going to slip his mind. By now he's probably figured out that we've escaped... wait a minute, that means...

Sakura: That means we're wanted criminals... they'll probably start searching for us in the morning...

Orochi: Indeed. We cannot stay here long... this journey is going to be more difficult than I thought...

Sakura: We'll have to get out of here early in the morning tomorrow, and head for Momorin. At least we can get some rest there. Right, Kajin?

Kajin: yeah...

Rikku: Kajin... is something wrong?

Kajin: Oh, you don't have to worry about me, beautiful ninja! ¢¾

Rikku: Oh, please! As if anyone would worry about a flirtatious jerk like you!

Orochi: She really doesn't trust men, does she...

Sakura: You can't really trust anyone in this world... you never know when someone is going to stab you in the back these days...

Orochi: Then... why do you trust all of us?

Sakura: Well, why else? Because we're all friends!

Orochi: You'd trust people for such a simple reason...?

Sakura: You think friendship is simple? If it were so simple I might have gotten to experience it in my childhood...

Just then, Sakura and Rikku both gave a long yawn. It was getting pretty late, it was a little past midnight.

Orochi: We should get some rest. We'll need plenty of strength tomorrow morning, since we are going to both Momorin and Utsumora.

Kajin: I agree. I'm pretty tired...

About 5:00 the next morning, the four heroes set off for Momorin, the village of theives. It would be a fairly long walk, however, possibly taking close to a week.

Orochi: A week... that's a long time...

Kajin: It can't be helped. It's surrounded by the Momorin Mountain range, making the terrain rather uneaven... so, uh... watch your step.

I'm sure you could guess what happened next.

Rikku: *tripping over rock* uggh... owwww......

Kajin: Need some help? *extending arm*

Rikku: Th-... Thanks, Kajin...

It had been a couple of hours, and the dry desert-like heat was making them lethargic.

Orochi: Man, if we take this long, it'll only make it easier for the King to find us!!

Kajin: All right then... I have an idea. Everyone, get on top of my back.

Rikku: WHAT?!?! There is NO WAY that I'm going to mount on your back!

Kajin: Then you can have the joy of being carried in my arms.

Rikku: You've got to be kiddi--

But before she could say a thing, Kajin picked her up, while Orochi and Sakura were on his back. He must have been pretty strong to be able to carry that kind of weight. No offense, Orochi ;) To their surprise, Kajin jumped up in to the air.

Kajin: Speed of Fates!!

They disappeared in a black blur, and suddenly re-appeared in an area of rubble, near a pond. Rikku was at the top of the pile, still in Kajin's arms, though he was right under her. Under Kajin was Sakura, and under the three was poor Orochi.

Orochi: Uggh... my... back...

Sakura: Where are we?

Rikku: And... how did we just get here?

They all got up, but Kajin was lying on the ground, utterly fatigued.

Kajin: A secret Momorin technique... the "Speed of Fates". It allows me to excel my regular human speed, even though my regular speed is far faster than any regular human... I can use it to travel great distances, though it takes a lot outta me... *cough* *cough*

Orochi: *thinking to self* Speed of Fates, huh... that must have been the ability he used when he stole the locket... that's why I couldn't hit him...

Rikku: How far is it to Momorin? Are we close?

Kajin: This... IS Momorin...

Orochi: This is your village? It's completely burned to the ground! Did you know this all along? Now how am I supposed to get my locket back?!?!

Kajin: It's been like this for a few months... and relax, the village shrine is still intact. I'm positive that a demon had come and destroyed the village... since the shrine has been under several enchantments to ward off such creatures...

They made their way to the Shrine. It was made entirely out of stone and marble, probably stolen materials from a wealthy blacksmith. In the center of the room, there were three different marble altars. Kajin reached into his cloak and pulled out the Momorin Orb from inside his chestplate. He placed it on the tallest altar, which was in the center. Suddenly, the shiny glass ball began to glow a shade of gold, possibly reflecting all of its contents. A golden light shone from the orb and to an area of the floor, and it began to materialize into a pile of treasure.

Rikku: Wow.. look at all those jewels!

Orochi: That pile of gold must be worth a fortune.

Sakura: Is that... a cow?

Kajin: Uh... hehe what can I say? I love beef!

Kajin went up to the pile and scooped up something from the top and went up to Orochi.

Kajin: Here's your locket. I... apologize...

Orochi: Hmph... don't worry about it...

Kajin took some of the gold coins in his pile in a large bag on his waist. He put the rest back into the Momorin Orb.

Rikku: It must be a pain, having to come back here every time you want to get your stuff back...

Kajin: True, true... though the exercise is very rewarding. Well you have your locket back now, so I gues I'll be seeing you later!

Sakura: Huh? You're leaving?

Kajin: You guys only needed me to get here, so there isn't much point in following you around anymore. Sorry to hold up your journey like this, but anyway... perhaps we'll meet again, so farewell but not goodbye!

He vanished in a black blur. Where could he have gotten to now?

Orochi: Well Utsumora isn't exactly going to walk to us, is it? Let's get going...

The three took a half-hour walk to Utsumora. There was a large windmill in the centre, and all around it were primitive-looking, yet sturdy wooden houses. Everyone there seemed to be farmers, except for some clanky metal-armoured men. Wait... M=metal-armoured men?? Rikku: Crap... they must be the King's men... how did they get here so quickly!?!?

Sakura: Thats strange... hmm? There's a noble among them...

Standing in between a group of Imperial Soldiers was a young man, possibly slightly older than Orochi. His face was free of flaws, and his hair was short, shaggy, and dark blue. Though shaggy, it was very neatly done, quite unlike Orochi's hair. He dressed in a fancy dark blue noble's suit. At his side was a sheathed rapier sword.

Rikku: I wonder if they're here to get us?? No... that can't be... there's no way they could have known we were here and gotten here in time...

Orochi: There's... something odd about that man...

Rikku: Let's hurry up and find out where Zephyr might be, and get the hell outta here!

Sakura: I agree... that man must be one of the King's high sub-ordinates... I'll bet he's powerful...

Orochi: Is there any more information in that book about Zephyr?

Sakura: I'll check... *taking book out of bag of belongings*

But just as she had taken it out, it had vanished. It had re-appeared in the hands of the dark-blue haired noble. He had an evil smirk on his face.

Noble: This marks the end of your journey, little girl. You won't be awakening any more of the Guardian Spirits from now on!

Rikku: Hey, give that back!

Noble: Why should I? It rightfully belongs to the King, who you vermin stole it from.

Orochi: Give that book back, or else I'll have no choice but to fight you.

Noble: Don't make me laugh! You, fight me? I am Shiro, Lord Kaichitoka's right-hand man, and captain of the Imperial Knights! An inferior half-demon such as you cannot defeat a high-class swordsman such as I!

Rage was burning in Orochi's eyes. Just who did this guy think he was?! A rapier was no match for his Raitora, which easily shattered the steel bars of a jail cell. He unsheathed his katana and lunged at the noble, Shiro.

Orochi: You're gonna pay for insulting my people!

Shiro: You still intend to fight? You truly are pathetic. *unsheathing rapier* Sakura: I'll help, too!

Rikku: Yeah, let's go!!

Just as Orochi thought he had landed a perfect hit on the noble, his attack had been blocked by the man's sword.

Shiro: It is futile! I told you, I am the captain of the Imperial Knights! No swordsman can defeat me!

Shiro blocked every attack that Orochi sent at him. Sakura unleashed Pyros's fire, but Shiro jumped out of the way, but dropped the book. While he was running for the book, Rikku took advantage of his vulnerability and jumped on top of a nearby house and shot three arrows at him. But she had underestimated his ability. Shiro turned around and deflected the arrows back at her with a precise swing. They were going faster than when she had shot them, so there would have been no chance of running away.

Shiro: Goodbye, little girl!

Rikku: AHHH!!!

But just as the arrows had been an inch away from her body, she vanished... in a black blur.

Shiro: What?! Where did she go?!?

She re-appeared next to Sakura and Orochi, in the arms of none other than Kajin. Kajin had also managed to swipe the book in his Speed of Fates.

Kajin: So much for being Shiro the Great. You're swordsmanship is worse than my grandmother's!

Shiro: Uggh... Hmph. You vermin... you may have won this fight, but don't think this is the end! There's a bounty on your heads!

He vanished in a black blur, similar to Kajin's, except he left behind a small pile of black feathers...

Sakura: Kajin! You came to help us?

Rikku: You pervert!! Let go of me!!

Orochi: That is hardly a way to speak to someone who just saved your life, Rikku.

Sakura: You should thank Kajin, Rikku... if it weren't for him, you would have been killed!

Rikku: Uggh... fine, thanks... now will you please let me go?!

Kajin: Huh? Oh, of course. Anything for my little ninja angel! ♥

Sakura: Here we go again...

Rikku: WILL YOU STOP CALLING ME THAT!!!!?!?!

Orochi: Heh... some things never change...

Kajin decided to permanently join their journey now. He would help Sakura to seek the Guardian Spirits, and continue to help and protect the group itself, with his speed and strength. Not only was he a bodyguard, but also a true friend. With his intellect, finding Zephyr shouldn't be too much of a problem... or will it? Find out in the next chapter of Hiroshi's World.
