My interview with oG)Pride[tC] (Canada)



Gosu)Rpf: ok I’ll start with the usual: age/sex/location?

oG)Pride[tC]: 20/M/London, Ontario, Canada

Gosu)Rpf: how long have you been playing Starcraft?

oG)Pride[tC]: since about early 2000, so running on 5 years now I guess.

Gosu)Rpf: wow, that’s a long time

Gosu)Rpf: you play Protoss. Why do you like that race? Any dislikes?

oG)Pride[tC]: I really originally liekd that they were the good guys in the Starcraft universe, the benevolent teachers trying to rectify the damage done to their universe. I decided from playing single player actually that toss would be my race. I like their spell casters but I really dislike their lack of late game ground units.

oG)Pride[tC]: liekd = liked*

Gosu)Rpf: so many...big words... o.O

oG)Pride[tC]: lol

Gosu)Rpf: and yes, they do lack in late game ground T_T

Gosu)Rpf: do you ever play Terran or Zerg, just for fun?

oG)Pride[tC]: I did try changing to random a while back when I still played in nohunters but I got frustrated with all the losing so I switched back and began to work on my PvZ which was one of the reasons I had switched to random

Gosu)Rpf: ooh, interesting

Gosu)Rpf: speaking of matchups, how do you feel about PvT, PvZ, and PvP?

Gosu)Rpf: (likes/dislikes)

oG)Pride[tC]: well PvT I find fairly fun, I have a lot of different strats that I like to switch up using and if I macro well I usually win so I like that

Gosu)Rpf: winning is thx~

oG)Pride[tC]: PvZ is hard but fun at the same time. I think it takes a lot of practice to be good at PvZ. It's one of the most reactionary matchups in the game, you can't just go out and do what you want you need a good idea of what your opponent is doing etc to win

oG)Pride[tC]: and PvP is just silly. Lose a goon, lose the game it seems sometimes. Too much attention required for me to win that consistently

Gosu)Rpf: lol

Gosu)Rpf: many players know that Protoss is not the race that defines the early or mid game. its much more of a reactionary race. to quote my friend Prodigy99 from east, its the "bitch" race. lol. how do you feel about Protoss being like that?

oG)Pride[tC]: well I think that if you're good being the reactionary race can be beneficial. Scouting is really essential as toss and if you can do that well and know the game well you can really shine as toss. Also some tosses really change it up and make the game their own (ie nal_ra) which I can really respect. So I guess it's a double-edged sword in that it's doable but not impossible

Gosu)Rpf: what do you think of all the Protoss progamers? (i.e. nal_ra, kingdom, pusan, reach, etc.)

Gosu)Rpf: do you/did you idolize any of those players?

oG)Pride[tC]: Yes, my idol is most definitely Reach. If I could ever get to play him I would die a happy man Nal_ra is different and I like that about im. I also think pusan has some awesome potential, but kingdom really doesn't impress me

Gosu)Rpf: same, kingdom hasnt really been impressive lately :-\

Gosu)Rpf: on to a different topic: do you consider yourself to be good or bad mannered?

oG)Pride[tC]: I like to think I'm mannered most of the time but sometimes when I'm feeling angry at the world or something else I will be bad mannered to let out some of my aggression

Gosu)Rpf: its fun though, isn’t it?

oG)Pride[tC]: on occasion, yes :D

Gosu)Rpf: I understand that very shortly you have a clan war, oG) vs. 88). any predictions for this clan war?

oG)Pride[tC]: haha, well 88) has been on fire lately and since I don't want to say that 88) will win (they have many z users and first map is bifrost!!!) I will say that it will be close

Gosu)Rpf: do you agree that bifrost is just a dumb map? it justs asks for cheesing.

oG)Pride[tC]: well dumb and imbalanced are 2 different things. I would call it imbalanced before dumb

Gosu)Rpf: well put.

Gosu)Rpf: what hobbies do you have outside of Starcraft?

oG)Pride[tC]: well this semester I work full time (I am in a co-op program at university) so that takes up a lot of my time. Lately I've been working out, reading comic books and playing other games. That pretty much eats up my time

Gosu)Rpf: girlfriend?

Gosu)Rpf: or...boyfriend...depending >.>

oG)Pride[tC]: lol well, I had to move away for co-op. If I was still at school I would have one by now but since I moved... nope

oG)Pride[tC]: maybe in the summer though :D

Gosu)Rpf: you’ll make some girl very happy

oG)Pride[tC]: I know :D

Gosu)Rpf: what are you studying at the university?

oG)Pride[tC]: Microbiology, honours co-op

oG)Pride[tC]: so microbes, bacteria, fungi etc

Gosu)Rpf: so icky stuff with lots of big words?

oG)Pride[tC]: in essence, yes

Gosu)Rpf: haha

oG)Pride[tC]: right now in my lab I am working with Stretomyces lydicus and Streptomyces griseoviridis

Gosu)Rpf: what the ****?

oG)Pride[tC]: :D

Gosu)Rpf: erm, do I want to know?

Gosu)Rpf: oh and excuse my language, just a reaction

oG)Pride[tC]: prolly not, its boring stuff

Gosu)Rpf: lol

Gosu)Rpf: what do you think of other well known Canadian players?

oG)Pride[tC]: well I've met most of them in real life so I wont bad mouth many of them Canadian players really are skilled for the most part which means I always have stiff competition. If I had to say anything good about any one of them I would say Paul is the most mannered and good natured and bad? well Testie can be a dick I guess

Gosu)Rpf: haha

Gosu)Rpf: recently you’ve started doing some really nice RWAs. what inspired you to start doing those?

oG)Pride[tC]: well the community gave me a lot over the years and there is a HUGE demand for RWAs and little supply

oG)Pride[tC]: after spending some time in the WC3 community I realized SC RWAs are really bad in general

oG)Pride[tC]: and that I could do some way better ones then were currently being done so I grabbed a mic, fiddled with it and went to work

Gosu)Rpf: nice I especially like the LindsayLohan vs. SoL.Sabbath PvT on Nostalgia. why did you choose that game?

oG)Pride[tC]: well Lindsay and I are good friends and she recommended I do that one, it was a really close and exciting game to watch imo so I thought that would be a prefect RWA material

oG)Pride[tC]: prefect = perfect ~_~

Gosu)Rpf: I hope you plan to continue making them in the future. you mentioned during that PvT that you might do a PvP, which would be wonderful. I don’t know of any PvP RWAs. have you found any games worth doing?

oG)Pride[tC]: well I had some recommended to me including a KPGA game of reach vs eji on plains to hIll but it was long and boring, maybe I just can't get excited for a pvp, it just seems to dry and I really am not that good at it so it will be hard to do

oG)Pride[tC]: I think the first one I will do will only be about 20~ minutes long and highlight 1-2 strats in PvT

Gosu)Rpf: RWAs imo are one of the best additions to the Starcraft community besides bw chart. what programs do you use? bw coach? or anything like that?

oG)Pride[tC]: I don’t have bwchart installed currently, just the RWA tools and 2 launchers for different servers (bnetX and ngi) imo bwchart really isn't overly useful. APM is overrated unless you have 'real

oG)Pride[tC]: *real apm

Gosu)Rpf: so I assume you don’t believe apm is directly correlated with skIll?

oG)Pride[tC]: no, look at players like fisheye and nazgul. I don't think they broke 200 APM in their life and they were 2 of the best foreign tosses ever

Gosu)Rpf: good point. I know someone around 100 apm and is one of the best players I know.

Gosu)Rpf: hrm...random stuff: favorite band, song, food, movie...etc. ?

oG)Pride[tC]: favorite band: swollen members; favorite song: Faint - Linkin Park; food: egg noodles with steak and peppers on top; movie: the shawshank redemption

oG)Pride[tC]: nope, I am talentless outside of bed

Gosu)Rpf: hrrmmmm.....whats the craziest thing you’ve ever done in Starcraft?

oG)Pride[tC]: hmmm well on LAN vs oG)Alex I went for an arbiter recall about 15 minutes into the game on dahlia with proxy arbiters

oG)Pride[tC]: it was funny, he sealed me with lurkers so I just massed zeal recalled into his main

oG)Pride[tC]: everyone was laughing

Gosu)Rpf: that’s so terrible, but funny

Gosu)Rpf: I assume you won?

oG)Pride[tC]: yea

Gosu)Rpf: other random stuff:

oG)Pride[tC]: nope, im a lover not a fighter

Gosu)Rpf: ever done anything crazy like skydiving or bungee jumping?

oG)Pride[tC]: hmmmm not so much like that, I used to do stupid stuff as a kid though

Gosu)Rpf: lol, like what?

oG)Pride[tC]: I used to go to the highest point on my school's climbers and do flips off

oG)Pride[tC]: all the other kids would watch

Gosu)Rpf: o.O

oG)Pride[tC]: and other dumb stuff

Gosu)Rpf: so you’re just an attention whore?

oG)Pride[tC]: sometimes :D
