*****

BAD INFLUENCE (1990)

Filming locations:

Rob Lowe and James Spader are seen talking near the actual

La Brea Tar Pits and walking through the nearby Page Museum.

Later in the movie, Spader dumps a woman's body into the Tar Pits,

which are located in Hancock Park

(5801 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles).

The conclusion of the film was shot

at the Manhattan Beach pier, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.

*****

BODY DOUBLE (1984)

Filming locations:

Farmer's Market are seen (in two different scenes); Third & Fairfax, Hollywood

The Rodeo Collection, the posh mini-mall at 421 Rodeo Drive

is the setting for the lengthy scene where the hero follows the

victim-to-be through the outdoor mall's white marble hallways.

And that oddball, octagonal house-on-stilts where most of the movie takes place

isn't just a studio prop - it's real a real home, and it's located at 7776 Torreyson Drive,

south of Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills.

*****

CLASS OF 1984 (1982)

Central High School, downtown Toronto, Canada

It's now called Central Technical School,

and is still at its original location

at 725 Bathurst Street, at Harbord.

Central Tech

The park scene with Roddy McDowall is located

on the North side of Ontario Lake, in Toronto.

FAST TIMES AT

RIDGEMONT HIGH (1982)

The 1982 comedy hit "FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH"

was shot on two high school campuses in the San Fernando valley:

Canoga Park High School (6850 Topanga Canyon Blvd.,

at the corner of Vanowen Street, in Canoga Park) ,

and Van Nuys High School,

about eight miles due east of Canoga Park

(at 6535 Cedros Avenue.)

The mall scenes were shot at the

Sherman Oaks Galleria Mall,  which is sadly no longer there.

*****

HALLOWEEN (1978)

Filming Locations (shot in March 1978)

The movie was supposed to be set in the

little Midwestern town of Haddonfield, Illinois.

But that tree lined residential street is really

Orange Grove Avenue in suburban Hollywood,

just north of Sunset Blvd. Most of the action in the

movie took place in the Dole residence,

where Jamie was baby-sitting.

That house is located at 1530 Orange Grove.

Her best friend was murdered while baby-sitting

in the house across the street

(the one with the jack-o-lantern on the porch),

at 1537 Orange Grove.

1100 Oxley Street and Fairview Avenue, South Pasadena, California

(this is where Jamie Lee Curtis' character "Laurie" lived)

Mission and Meridian Streets, South Pasadena, California

(the hardware store where Michael Myers got his weapons)

*****

HELL NIGHT (1981)

Filming locations:

The majority of the movie was shot in three locations...

The outside of Garth Manor was shot at a mansion in Redlands, California.

The inside of Garth Manor was filmed in a residential home in Pasadena, California.

The frat party was filmed in an apartment lobby in Los Angeles, California.

The mansion used as Garth Manor is now a museum in Redlands, California

The owners made the change from private residence to a museum

shortly after filming was completed on the movie.

this movie was shot in Homestead, Florida

*****

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS (1987)

Filming Location:

Adams and Vermont, South Central, Los Angeles, California

*****

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)

the street featured in the original "Halloween" movie.

*****

PHANTASM (1979)

Filming Locations:

Dunsmuir House and Gardens, 2960 Peralta Oaks Court, Oakland, California

Julian, California

San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, California

*****

POLTERGEIST (1982)

Filming locations:

The house used as the Freeling family home, where most of the action took place in

is actually located in the Simi Valley, just northwest of L.A.

The address of the house is 4267 Roxbury Street

(north of Walnut, between Rachel Ave. & Tapo St.)

However, the neighborhood that is seen in the opening credits of "POLTERGEIST"

is not the same one where the main house is located (Simi Valley), but is in fact

located in about one mile north of the 101 Freeway at the Kanan Road exit in Agoura Hills.

(That's about 20 miles southwest of the Simi Valley house, as the freeway crawls.)

The streets seen in the opening of the movie are Kanan Road

(which is the road seen with the center divider and a single car driving on each side),

Shadycreek Drive (shown in the first neighborhood scene and the scene where a red car is driving down it),

Rustling Oaks Drive (where the large oak tree in the middle of the street is),

and Calmfield Avenue, Calabria Drive and Gleam Court

(seen in a couple of shots just before and after the guy heads out of the cul-de-sac on his bike carrying the beer).

After that, the camera cuts to the neighborhood in Simi Valley where the house is located.

*****

(which spans the Los Angeles Harbor channel,

at the south end of the Harbor Freeway,

between San Pedro and Terminal Island)

*****

TUFF TURF (1985)

Filming locations:

Mainly in the San Fernando Valley

in Sherman Oaks.

Also there was a drive through Beverly Hills,

on a few palm-lined streets

(streets in BH are mainly called "Drive", incidentally),

a stop at the "El Canon Country Club" (fictional?),

and past the famous Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard.

Pictured above right, actress

Catya Sasson died at a New Year's Eve party

in Hollywood of a drug-induced heart attack on 12/31/01.

*****

VALLEY GIRL (1983)

The mall scenes were filmed far from "the valley",

actually about 25 miles south of the San Fernando Valley,

at one of Southern California's largest malls: Del Amo Fashion Square,

at the corner of Hawthorne Blvd & Carson Street, in Torrance, CA.

(Scenes from "Jackie Brown" were also shot in the same Del Amo food court.)
