What are the Realm of Tar Valon Greens all about?

The Greens aren't just about flirting, and men (or women!), and fun. We have various purposes and ways in which we serve the Realm of Tar Valon community.

We run the One Power classes in the community
We raise community spirit within the Realm
We plan community-wide events

While the first purpose is a little self-explanatory, the second might need a little explaining. When I (Annela) was raised to the Green Ajah, I was already aware that the Greens were known around the site not only for being book-Green -- being sexy and snarky and passionate -- we were known for just being alive. None of us were particular about rules or rank or hierarchy. My fellow Greens at the time (Tallan and Isilwen) were awesome because they were fun and funny, and well-liked not because they were Aes Sedai, but because they were friends. And I wanted the Greens to be that way. I don't want us to be teachers, mentors, Aes Sedai or Accepted; we are not Healers like the Yellows, nor are we knowledge-harvesters like the Browns. We're here if you want a good laugh or to be cheered up.

As for our third purpose, we always have Green projects in the works. A good example is Dear Greenie, a project begun by Isilwen Sedai and now in the capable hands of Krystiana Sedai, where we play anonymous Agony Aunt to your woes. Another fun thing that happened was the Community Faire; while the idea and the execution credit does not belong solely to the Green Ajah, we ran a themed saidar/saidin sparring booth there that was great fun and, if I'm not wrong, an original in the Wheel of Time community. One of the events we put on the map as well was RoTV Impersonation Week, where the members went around as someone else from RoTV -- with their avatar and signature -- for a week. It was very confusing, and very, very fun.

There are definitely more projects coming up, headed by Aemon Sedai, which will hopefully be running soon.

What are the Greens like? Are you similar to the Greens in the books?

I have a PM saved from Tallan that I have to share with you here. I treasure that PM greatly, and I think it explains pretty well what we're like:

Okay, so, first and foremost... I'm Green. Heart and soul. I've always been Green. Since I joined my first online WoT thingy (a Swedish RPG), the Green Ajah has been my home. Not because it's this flirty man loving sex obsessing Ajah, cause it's not. It's the battle. Oh boy. I don't have a specific area of expertise or something I know I want to devote my life to, but to me being Green in RL is more about how you choose to handle things and live life than pursuing a particular goal. Being Green is about never backing down, never shutting up, never giving up. It's about standing up for what you believe in and not tolerate shit from anyone. It's about encouraging your friends and others around you to do the same. It's about knowing what's important to you and protect it as fiercely as necessary. And it's about trying to live life to its fullest.

I feel that each and every member of the Green Ajah exemplifies the Greens in the books in some special way or the other -- we're lovers, or fighters, or both. And we're not lovers in that we're sensual, either (though we certainly are that ). We're lovers in that we're passionate. We're passionate about our friends, our companions, our sisters, and brothers; our near-siblings. I guess that's a Green quality in the books -- the protector quality -- but it's something that so many of my Greens bring out so well. It's about the courage, and the fighting. A lot of us -- in fact, all of us -- didn't join because we thought "hey, Green's the sexy Ajah in the books, Green's the popular Ajah". We joined because of our own personal reasons, tied to what Tallan told me when she wanted to go Green. I personally am not a fighter. I don't like confrontation. But I will stand up for my loved ones and for what I believe in. That's what being Green is all about.

So who are the Greens?

You're bound to have seen some of us around. The active Aes Sedai at the moment are Krystiana; our lovely Head, myself, Annela; and Aemon Sedai, one of the rare few male Aes Sedai whom we've managed to keep for our own. Our Aethan Tyren has been with us almost ever since he was raised Aethan and decided to pledge himself to the Greens (since 2004!). Our inactive Aes Sedai are Isilwen and Tallan. Our Accepted are Rasheta, Silus, and most recently, Braelyn.

How does an Accepted apply to the Greens?

You just have to PM the Head, Krystiana, and you'll be part of us in no time. All you require is a sense of humour and a tendency to be a little more wenchy than is good for you.

Krystiana al'Vorik

Krystiana is the Captain-General of the Green Ajah. She loves reading, writing a bit and listening to music. Krys spends more time than is healthy on the computer, and she loooves her Green-ness. She is very absentminded, to the point of annoying people, but she's actually quite neat. Mostly, anyway. Kryssie is scared of hights and spiders, and is claustrophobic. She's fond of sleeping, reading stupid things in the newspapers, and being blonde, inside and out. Krys was raised Accepted 06/08/05 and was raised Aes Sedai 08/03/06 together with her near-brother Aemon. She was appointed Captain-General 23/06/06.

Annela Lemaile

Annela is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. She is poorly-coordinated and is fond of ducks and geese. She turned sixteen in June. She was raised Accepted on 18/08/04, and raised Aes Sedai and Captain-General on 23/12/04. She stepped down as Captain-General 23/06/06. She still maintains the Green website.

Isilwen Gilraen

Isilwen is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. She was raised Accepted on 05/10/04 and Aes Sedai on 16/02/05.

Tallan

Tallan is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. She was raised Accepted on 14/11/04, and became a member of the Green Ajah on 8/01/05. She was raised Aes Sedai 10/02/05. Tallan Sedai is currently on extended LoA, but we do know that she loves cats and music and emoticons, owns an acidic sense of humour, is from Sweden, and has lovely, striking green eyes.

Aemon Tsomarel

Aemon is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. He enjoys reading on his rooftop, laying on an inner-tube in his pool in the summer, being quizzed on random geographical facts (especially national capitals) and singing. He sings mostly freelance to the radio when no one is around but is not shy to sing in front of his friends. Girls are a weakness of his and if they know how to pluck his heart strings then they can get him to do pretty much anything, short of murder. He plays sports, ice-hockey being his favorite. Aemon also enjoys playing board games and watching re-runs of Seinfeld. He was raised Accepted 13/06/05, and Aes Sedai on 08/03/06 together with his near-sister Krystiana.

Tyren

Tyren is an Aethan of the Gaidin pledged to the Green Ajah. He was raised 30/10/04.

Silus Crow

Silus is an Accepted of the Green Ajah. He was raised Accepted 04/05/05.

Jaydena

Jaydena is an Accepted who joined the Green Ajah 22/09/06.

Myrielle al'Bashira

Myrielle was raised Accepted to the Green 31/08/06.

Rasheta Ardashir

Rasheta is an Accepted of the Green Ajah. She enjoys reading, writing and debating history with others. She enjoys Rping a lot and is getting rather good at it. She likes to dance and tries to learn as many dances as she can besides ballet. She is very proud of her Irish heritage and hopes soon to go to Ireland. She does Renfaires and dresses up like a Pirate wench as much as she can. She was raised Accepted 25/10/05.

Braelyn Falre

Braelyn is an Accepted of the Green Ajah. She was raised Accepted 21/01/06.

"Community well-being is the focus of the Yellow Ajah, and they do it through several different modes. They share medical information relating to both physical and mental health, and also send congratulatory and birthday cards out."

Avende Company
"Avende Company tends to be concerned with the study of battle, learning more about fighting tactics and on teaching classes. They are represented by a tree and the colors green and gold, and their mascot is the fox."

Dieb Company
"Soldiers of the Dieb Company work to become combat specialists and focus on spars and being the best warrior possible. They are represented by a tornado and the colors red and silver, and the company mascot is the lion."
