*Update: September 20^th: Bad News

The Fark thread has mysteriously disappeared. The archive from that day is still online, but the single Britney Spears/K-Fed thread that spawned the rotsky meme has been deleted, perhaps by request of rotsky himself. We will likely never find out, and as far as I know, no one has saved a copy of the actual thread, so all that’s left is this condensed version. (See up for most recent info)

ROTSKY ON THE INTERWEBZ

At one point, a Wikipedia article about rotsky existed. Unfortunately, it was marked for “speedy deletion” within a few hours, and was actually deleted a few hours after that. No Uncylopedia article has been written as of yet, however definitions have been added to Urban Dictionary. This will be updated when necessary. EDIT: A screenshot of the old Wikipedia page has been added to the Facebook group.

The Story So Far

The Fark Headline that started it all:

Britney Spears lawyer quits this morning just as court is about to start. K-Fed's side will be bringing in their approved "secret witness" today. Will Britney lose custody of her boys today?

After a few vaguely amusing comments by a few Farkers about not caring about Britney Spears, rotsky replies with this brilliantly stupidiotic correction:

It takes a few posts for someone to realize this doesn’t make sense, and that the submitter was actually correct in typing “lose” instead of “loose,” as rotsky recommended. This is when the mocking starts pouring through the intertubes.

The first on the scene was TXEric:

Okay, number one: it's not a meme, it's a cliche (or at least a potential cliche.)

Number two: less than 24 hours is not enough time for a cliche to take off. If it is going to stick around, it will have to show some stamina over the long term.

i don't see why it isn't a meme. it's a sort of cultural information. for example, if i'd written "i am here hear. (pet peeve.)", that would basically be the rotsky. and, it would only makes sense (thus far) in the culture of fark. am i using the concept incorrectly? aren't all fark cliches also memes? -f00f
