Here you will be able to keep an eye on the developments of the Sports Club.
What is Rotherfield Sports Club?
Rotherfield Sports Club is an umbrella group that runs and maintains the Clubhouse and facilities with the Clubs that are affiliated. They are the Football Club, Cricket Club and Bowls Club.
As part of the individual Club membership fees, £2 of that goes to becoming a member of the Sports Club.
Apart from membership fees, the only other forms of revenue for the Sports Club come from the bar and 100 Club Prize Draw.
In the summer of 2006, Rotherfield Recreation Ground was professionally drained. This project cost approximately £60,000. Most of the funding came through the Football Club with grant funding from ‘Football Foundation’ and Rotherfield Parish Council.
Since this has been done, Rotherfield FC have now established two eleven-a-side pitches (main top pitch and lower pitch for Junior football) and two mini soccer pitches for the winter and a good quality Cricket pitch for the summer.
The Future
Discussions have started regarding plans for a new Clubhouse. At present the main Clubhouse is just adequate for Cricket but requires developing for the rapid expansion of the Football Club. The Bowls Clubhouse however, is in need of replacing.
The Sports Club has now formed a feasibility committee to discuss planning a new Clubhouse for all three affiliated Clubs. Though this is a long-term project and will require much research and funding.
More short-term plans are to acquire a port-a-cabin for temporary changing and developing the lower pitch for both Junior and Senior football.
