He's bold, he's beautiful, and he sings too. Actor Ronn Moss, who plays the chisel-jawed Ridge Forrester in The Bold and the Beautiful is eager to be known as a singer too.

How has the journey been from a bass player in a succession of bands to an established actor?

Long and laborious. Sometimes I miss the freedom I had before I had to become so responsible.

Nineteen years as Ridge Forrester. Don't you feel stagnated at times?

Absolutely. But that comes as part of the challenge of a job like this. It's only natural that there are times when we all feel dumpy about our characters or storylines. But then you pull yourself up and try and pull a rabbit out of a hat to make it all magically work.

Is it the character Ridge Forrester that made people notice you as a singer or is it the singer Ronn Moss who became famous as an actor?

I started out with music. Since a very early age I was playing bass or guitar and singing in bands I formed. We had a fan base as this music entity. I got to a point where I wanted to try something different.

So I thought I'd pursue acting. When I finally tapped into The Bold and the Beautiful, I pretty much had to start from scratch in building another fan base. The music fans started recognising me and watching the transition I made into acting. Now, one feeds the other.

Do you think people in India come to watch Ridge perform on stage or is it Ronn Moss that takes centrestage?

I have been to India last year. Yes, I think people may initially come to see Ridge perform, but hopefully, they leave having seen Ronn.

Are you happy that though you kicked off with music, people know you as an actor first?

These are things we can't really predict. All I can do is keep going with whatever creative endeavours come my way.

How has fatherhood changed you as a person?

It's given me two kids to have to worry about. It's taught me to be a guide, a mentor, a pain in the ass at times to get a point across. I've learned I can be their best friend, but they better never forget, I am their dad. I'm more proud of my girls than anything I've ever done.
