The International TV Audience Awards are determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 51 countries as measured by Médiamétrie and Eurodata TV Worldwide. The win signifies that The Bold and the Beautiful delivered higher ratings worldwide in 2006 than any other daily drama series, including the two other nominees in the same category, the Spanish-language telenovelas, El Cuerpo Del Deseo (Columbia), and Pasión de Gavilanes (Colombia).
The award was accepted by actor Drew Tyler Bell (Thomas Forrester), who travelled to Monaco along with cast member Lesley-Anne Down (Jackie Payne) to participate in the festival.
Created by Médiamétrie, Eurodata TV Worldwide distributes programming and audience information, based on its partnership with the national institutes operating people meter systems throughout the world. Today, Eurodata TV Worldwide's database contains more than 2000 channels in 75 countries.
The Bold and the Beautiful can be viewed in over 140 countries and territories worldwide, airing in morning, daytime, afternoon, access prime and prime time. In some international markets such as South Africa, Italy, and Australia, The Bold and the Beautiful ratings performance equals or outperforms many U.S. prime time series.
