He was real. As he walked out, on to the terrace of The Leela Palace, Ronn Moss in his six-feet-and-more dressed in pinstripe black formal suit and silver jewellery sent many a heart crashing on that windy afternoon.
His salt and pepper hair made the 53-year-old star icon look different from his image in the big American soap on the small screen - ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’.
He was in the City to walk the ramp with fashion designer Ramesh Dembla for a line of trousseau and festival attire – ‘Krishna Dembla.’
His deep voice waylaid the conversation now and then and sent the chain of thought scurrying for a sixer. Back on track, it did happen, a lively pleasant chat with Ronn, better known as Ridge Forrester - the suave fashion magnate of one of the longest soaps.
Is this your first visit to Bangalore?
This is my very first visit to India.
What brings you here?
I arrived two days back, in Mumbai for a music performance and release of my new CD - ‘Uncovered’. This is my second solo project and seventh or the eighth CD. I am a member of rock n’ roll band - Player in Los Angeles. I sing, play the guitar, electric base and drums. I intend to get back after March for a music tour. I happened to see some of Ramesh’s designs in LA. We have been in touch since then. I thought it was a good idea to tie up my music promotion tour with the show.
What do you think of Indian fashion?
It looks wonderful. I have seen some of the most traditional attires and the new versions of them. I place Indian fashion right up there with others. It’s very innovative and traditional. I think it’s a wonderful combination of nationality and innovation.
Your impressions of India?
I have heard so much about India. From the vast difference between the affluent and the poor to its massive history, fashion, its technological advancement. I am trying to find out how beautiful it is. The more I go out, the more it intrigues me. The traffic here is more noisy than in Rome.
How do you take your celebrity status?
With a sense of humour. I don’t take it very seriously.
What’s your style statement?
Personally I like to either dress up or be completely casual. Just jeans and shirt.
How big is your fan following?
I am trying to figure it out. I am here because of my fans.
Aren’t you bored of ‘Bold & Beautiful’ which has been going on for long?
I enjoyed the show but sometimes it gets boring. And that’s the challenge. I have to constantly enliven it because if I get bored what will happen to my viewers?
Any plans of getting into Bollywood?
I am cultivating some projects. Something is in the pipeline.
Are you exposed to Indian cuisine?
I like the curries not the spicy ones.
A word to your fans...
I would like to meet everyone of you when I get back next year. |
