Alzheimer's Memory Walk
Business Wire,  Oct 15, 1998

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1998--More than 4,300 walkers and runners at the annual Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk/Run raised a record $425,000 in Los Angeles, dedicated to research for the causes, cure, treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease.  Last year, which was also a record for collected revenues, the association raised $366,000. "Clearly that reflects the growing concern of people in Los Angeles about those with Alzheimer's disease, and the desire to help Alzheimer's patients and their families," Braun said.

Robinsons-May also distributed special public service announcements featuring Shelley Fabares and David Hyde Pierce, national honorary co-chairs for Memory Walk/Run, to radio and television stations throughout the Los Angeles market. The three-mile walk/run through the Los Angeles Zoo was a star-studded affair attended by television stars Shelley Fabares ("Coach"), David Hyde Pierce ("Frasier"), Sharon Lawrence ("NYPD Blue"), Ken Howard ("The White Shadow"), Ronn Moss ("The Bold and the Beautiful"), Shari Shattuck ("The Young and the Restless") and Nancy O'Dell ("Access Hollywood"). The Memory Walk/Run was one of 200 such walks staged in 50 states by the Alzheimer's Association the weekend of Oct. 3-4, to raise $12 million for the Alzheimer's research and family services in the United States. There are 150,000 Alzheimer's sufferers in the Los Angeles area.
