The Last Imperial Children of Russia

Tatiana

It was the year 1897, The young Tsarina Alexandra Feodorevna was expecting her second child. Hoping it would be a boy.

During the early summer, the 29 year old Tsar was at his family's dacha, the Alexandria on the Baltic sea. Along with his pregnant wife and their 18 month old daughter the Grand Duchess Olga.

On mourning of May 29th (June 11th), The Tsarina went into labor. At 10:40 am, a little baby was born , " One...two...ninety-nine...one hundred...one hundred one”  The new baby was a girl. The Imperial couple named her "Tatiana" (which means "fairy Princess"), so that their oldest daughter Olga and their new baby daughter  could be like the sisters Olga and Tatiana Larina in Alexander Pushkin's play Evgeny Onegin.

Russia and the family weren't so  disappointed

Baby Tatiana’s official title was

“Her Imperial Highness the Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaievna”.
