Tankura, beautiful woman of noble heritage, gets married to Devlin, heir to the royal family of the vampire society. It’s a political marriage, but there’s an instant attraction between those two. Soon in addition to the sexual heat deeper feelings begin to grow between them.
But there are people who are jealous of their luck and soon a chain of events is triggered which not only threatens to destroy the relationship of Tankura and Devlin, but also endangers their lives and that of the whole vampire society.
I truly enjoyed reading this book! Ms. Jordyn has created a very interesting setting for her novel that is different to the one you find in the “normal” vampire novels. In addition, she has created a set of characters that are alive and vibrant. Oh, and the sex is so hot that a few times I was afraid the pages would start burning.
So, what’s left to complain about? Well, I can’t really say that I have any complaints about Dream Lovers. But the book had me a little bit confused in the beginning and things didn’t become clearer until I had finished about two-thirds of the book. I would summarize it this way: Three different storylines are interwoven in this book.
A. The greater conflict between the Omega Force Fleet and their enemies.
Devlin is the leader of the Omega Force Fleet, an infamous group of warriors trained to fight against the enemies of the vampire society.
B. The story of Tankura and Devlin
This part is a beautiful erotic romance where we learn about how Tankura and Devlin get to know each other, about the wedding ceremony and their life as husband and wife afterwards. Ms. Jordyn has an eye for details and she describes the royal wedding in all its beauty and glamour in a very vivid way.
C. Life at the royal court
Everyday life at the royal court isn’t as simple as Tankura would have hoped.
In the first chapter we get our first glimpse into storyline A, a fight scene with the Omega Force Fleet warriors. Then storyline B comes to the foreground as Devlin learns that he is supposed to marry Tankura. This is the point where I became confused by the story, because the book started with an action-packed fight scene, but for the next 100 or so pages this storyline isn’t continued.
But don’t get me wrong. Those 100 pages were a very enjoyable read. The growing feelings between Devlin and Tankura are described in a very romantic and sensual way. It just seemed to me as if I was reading a book in a book.
With chapter eleven the storyline B ends and the storyline C begins. Now we’re talking about conflict, angst and action-packed sequences. You won’t be able to stop reading after this point and will just fly through the pages!
In chapter seventeen the author again connects storyline C with storyline A and throughout the rest of the book both storylines become more and more interwoven.
I am excited to see what comes next in the Chronicles of the Vampire Society series, and I have no doubt that it will be as captivating as this one. There are so many hints to even more fantastic developments in this series like… No, I won’t tell you! Go and read it for yourself.
