Connor Finn is a famous dancer. He has been nicknamed “Quicksilver” by a reporter in the Times. He only has a few more performances and than he can take a few weeks off.
Glorianna (Glory) Scalsi is only 18 and has never danced with a partner. Her previous instructor told her she was not good enough. Now she is trying out for Madame. If she is accepted she could be dancing with Connor.
Glory is trying out for Madame to see if she can dance. Connor is at her try out and finds her extremely attractive. He wants to help her learn to dance as a pair in and out of bed. He sees that she has great talent. They begin an affair but every time they get close she runs away for a few days at a time. At least that is what he thinks until he finds bruises on her arm. He knows she in trouble but without knowing why, he cannot help her.
This was a short story but I think that it could have been even better if it was a bit longer. The story line had great potential but was skimmed over so it was a bit confusing towards the end. Connor was not your alpha at all and it was a bit refreshing to see that. He was not all brawn but had a sensitive side to him that made him appealing. Glory broke my heart during this short story. I think that this writer is off to great start and hope to see more of her writing in the future.

Cheri London wants to have a baby but does not want the father that usually goes with it. She has secrets in her past that keep from allowing that special someone into her heart.
Darius Markum meets Cheri online and has agreed to help her to get pregnant and then stay out of her life.
Cheri realizes that she is being stood up by Darius and leaves the bar they were to meet at. She takes a walk on the beach and hurts her foot. A gorgeous man with a southern drawl comes to her rescue. Allen takes her to his home and gives her the best sex in her life. She only sees it as a means to an end but he sees it as so much more. He needs to show how good they can be together but he has secrets of his own that may keep that from happening. Allen is really Darius Allen Markum.
This may have been a short read but it packed quite a punch. Cheri wants to be a mother so badly and is willing to do almost anything to get her wish. She had her blinders on so when Allen came into the picture he just blindsided her. The sex scenes were hot but worked so well with the story. I love these types of books where the man just sweeps them off their feet. Every woman should be so lucky.

Danny Williams is pleasantly surprised when one Friday night, Sarah, his comely wife, proposes a game to engender fresh excitement into their flagging sex life.
Handing Danny a copy of the erotic Lascivious Liaisons by Madame X, she suggests they re-enact a sex scene from the book once a week. After acting out the first scene for a heated night of sex, skeptical Danny is convinced and looking forward to the next 'By the Book' night.
However, unknown to Danny, Sarah has a plan within a plan. After several 'By the Book' nights, things start to unravel and events swing beyond Danny's control, ultimately changing their lives...forever.
As this is a rather short book, the story naturally is pretty straightforward. At least this seems to be the case in the first half of the book. The first chapters are a very enjoyable erotic romp with Danny and Sarah re-enacting sex scenes from the erotic Lascivious Liaisons by Madame X in order to spice up their sex life. And those scenes are very, very steamy, naughty and, let me say, creative.
But even though Danny and Sarah are two very lively and also funny characters, I was pretty much convinced after the first few chapters that "By the Book" is simply a PWP (porn without plot). But I judged to early. After the first chapters of happily shagging around according to the instructions of the erotic book, there is a suprising turn of events which brought the plot to the foreground.
Altogether "By the Book" is a very good and enjoyable read, which features some of the hottest sex scenes I've read so far. And it's also fun to read this book just to see how many synonyms the author was able to find for the word for the male anatomy. I especially like "projectile". ;)

Nigel and Sephora have been neighbours for years but haven't had the chance to really get to know each other yet. Sephora is a very successful fundraiser for charities which take place all over the United States and Nigel's job makes it necessary to travel a lot, too. But when Nigel and Sephora finally meet at a fundraising event, they're at once attracted to each other and soon the passion between them boils high.
When geologists discover a vein of turquoise which runs through their properties this should guarantee them a happy and wealthy future. But soon it becomes obvious that there is another man who is after the vein and he wants to reach his goal whatever the cost.
This book is foremost an action packed thriller complete with terrorists, arms dealers, some fierce fight scenes, FBI agents and so on. The suspense will leave you breathless from the first until the last page. But it's also a very sweet romance between the two main characters, who seem to be an unlikely pairing at first. The sex in this book is scorching hot and there is some mild BDSM, too.
What annoyed me a little bit was the constantly changing point of view throughout the story. Sometimes when the point of view changed to another character, the timeline was set back, too, and the same scene was described from the point of view of the second character. That didn't work very well for me and I always had the feeling I was just reading the same thing again. But overall it didn't bother me that much. Dark Illusions is a very enjoyable read and an overall recommendation. I especially liked the different and exotic settings throughout America and Europe, which made this book a very interesting read.

Mira Sinclair’s life is constantly on-the-go leaving her no room for a personal life. She is the owner of a highly successful magazine while scheduling the life of the high-profile elite Mirabella. She just doesn't have time for down time.
Max Dunbar and his partner take charge of an international investigation involving thefts of gold bullion and dead models. His path crosses Mira’s and he goes undercover working as her security analyst while actually protecting her and the elusive Mirabella.
Will he put an end to the Golden Killer or will Mira become a bird in a gilded cage while adding to the myth of Mirabella? Can they hold onto what they've found and the special love they've discovered?
This book is small slice of heaven after a long week. When I was assigned this story to review, I thought it was going to be paranormal at the title, but if you like action, love, a story that is interwoven so completely that you literally get lost in it, then Bird in a Gilded Cage will give you that. Ms. Poff has written a tale that will tug at your heart strings. The characters were a beautiful mix of good versus bad. The bad guy in this book makes you really want to strangle him with your bare hands and that has to be saluted. Mira is a delightful little morsel and her honesty sometimes is wonderfully blush-worthy. As for Max…ROAR Baby! This man is everything every girl has ever wanted.
There were a couple of places where I was a bit lost and the bad guy’s name was a lot predictable, but those can be overlooked because of the sizzling scenes and the heart clenching action.

Detective Gerald Dixon is recuperating in Louisiana from a bad wound he suffered in the line of duty. He is tired, hurt and confused about his future life. Will he give up and retire as requested? Then on a one-day trip to New Orleans his life took a sudden turn. He found an unbelievable request to help a ghost free herself form a voo-doo spell. Gerald did not believe in ghosts. Only a person who did not beleive in voo-doo could help break the spell. Gerald definitely did not believe in voo-doo. To help the ghost Margarita he had to perform a mental challenge, a physical challenge and a challenge that would require him to push his own beliefs to a whole new level.
Ms. Dana Littlejohn has created a first class fantasy story with a touch of erotic sex and a nice romantic ending. The storyline is creative and well thought out. I was captured with how Gerald was able to move his life from recuperation pain to one that will give him the happiness he didn’t have and never new he needed. The ghost Margarita is a wonderful character that spiced up Gerald’s life and made me want to see her be released from the spell that was cast over her many years ago. The story flowed at just the right pace for an easy reading in one sitting. The erotic sex scene helped to make the decision by Gerald to help Margarita believable. I found the sex scene well written, but not as sizzling as I wanted. The story builds to a nice ending that lead me to visualize a romantic adventure beginning for Gerald and Margarita. I recommend this book to readers that like fantasy stories with a little erotic twist and a nice romantic ending.

Will the warrior be able to rebuild his clan or will he just get a taste of temptation?
Jonathan Destori is a warrior with exceptional skill and was chosen as one of the first few to rebuild his clan. He is happy with his circumstances, but worries that his different sexual appetites will hinder him in finding a suitable mate in this century. On the advice of a clan brother he travels to New York for a change of atmosphere. During his stay in the fast paced city he befriends the beautiful Kenya. Will The Big Apple offer him everything he's looking for and all that he needs?
Normally, I wouldn't be sorry to not have read the first story to a series but this time, I am definately going to get it. Jonathon's Bite of the Apple is an amazing read. I started reading it and could not stop until the story was finished. Jonathan was a beautiful soul (can you say that about a vampire?) and believable. I would have loved to see Kenya fleshed out some more because she is such a power woman and we need to see more of that in female characters in reading romance. Sexy, saucy and hot...what more can you ask for in a vampire read?

Despite her desires to protect herself from another bad relationship,
Jade Green, a young Afro-American woman, reluctantly lowers her self-imposed shield and gets involved with a married white lawyer. When she sees him with another woman other than his wife, she suspects he’s cheating on her like her ex. Without a word, she leaves to start over in another state. Shortly, she discovers she’s pregnant and decides to raise the child on her own. However, the lawyer finds her and she learns the woman had been a perspective client. Still very much in love with him, Jade moves back into an apartment he sets up for her. There their love endures until fate steps in, once again.
Candy Caine has managed to write a truly heartwarming tale of love, misunderstanding and fate. I truly enjoyed the characters especially Jade. My heart went out to her in such a way that I felt as though I had known her all my life. Her life troubles are real and believable and the tale has me more than satisfied. The love scenes were like air, they were necessary, purposeful and well placed. With that said, they left me breathless at their heat level and genuine appeal. And Preston…Too Cute! Over-all Never Change a Thing is highly recommended by the REC. Five roses.

Title: Surge and Raine: A Merman's Tale

Length: Short Story
Rating:
The time has come for Riptide, the son of Poseidon, to step down and his son, Surge to rule the oceans and the seven seas. Before going back into seclusion Poseidon left one rule for his son and his people to follow: stay away from the surface and leave the humans alone. Even as a young merman Surge found that rule difficult to keep. On one of his frequent trips to the surface he met the lovely Raine Foster and fell in love. One day he went to see her and she tells him she is in danger and must leave. Surge now has to go to the only who can help him get to the surface to save his love. Will Poseidon give Surge what he needs to save a human once he’s confessed all he’s done?
While I have to say the characters' names were a little cliche (Harpoon which I found to be a strange name for a sea thing to Riptide), I can't say I have any other complaints about Surge and Raine: A merman's Tale. The characters were fun and had this wonderful human element to them that left me amazed. The story was creatively weaved. The urgency that could be felt in Raine's voice on the peir and the danger lurking at every corner to the friends who seem to stick to Surge's side when he needed them the most; Passion that was beautiful in its placement. And the ending, Bravo! This story was a wonderful little romp and for that I give it four roses from the REC.

I was very skeptical of this story at first just because…well I really don’t know why but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice flow of dialogue, the interesting and real characters and I really love the way the author explains the curse at the beginning of the story. It pulls you in and you are anxious to find out more.
The attraction between Sonja and Lucas is hot and you will defiantly have to drink a glass of water to cool off from this amount of passion and heat. I laughed more then once out loud at the sharp, sassy dialogue between the two characters. For those of you who have seen Deliverance, buy the book and you will see what I am talking about. Reading this was a lovely way to spend my leisure time. I enjoyed it immensely and recommend it to anyone who is a paranormal fan. Which I defiantly am and I look forward to reading future works by Ms. Rose. Two thumbs up and 4 stars!

Title: The Sun Rose Over Cairo
Author: Dana Littlejohn
Genre: Contemporary
Length: Novella
Publisher:
Rating:
Death, Drama, Divorce, oh my! Cairo Ivory is a lawyer who had that and so much more to deal with in the course of a busy work week at the law offices of Berkeley, Townsend and Franklin. She has spent the last year doing divorce cases and was beginning to think that relationships just didn't last anymore. In the middle of the drama, death and divorces she met Jose Sanchez. He was sweet, gallant, respectful and sexy without even knowing it. In the middle of all the craziness in her life, could he be the one to remind her that relationships can last forever?
Dana Littlejohn’s flare for interesting names for her characters is shown in The Sun Rose Over Cairo. The main female, Cairo Ivory, is a bold breath of fresh air. She is independent, strong, honest and is in no way a damsel in distress. Jose Sanchez brings sexy to a whole new level and is a welcomed change from your typical bitter male. Not only that, but Mr. Sanchez is sensual and knows just how to kiss a lady. I found it cute the way he trips over his words, feelings and actions because he hadn’t been in the dating game for so long.
The friendships that are forged in this story are breathtakingly genuine in their perfection and are friendships that every one of us would love in our lives.
The Sun Rose Over Cairo has a plot that is rich with thorough writing and a surprise at every turn. One surprise will leave you giggling and breathless. It is a wonderful experience and is highly recommended with four roses from the REC.
