Cheri realizes that she is being stood up by Darius and leaves the bar they were to meet at.  She takes a walk on the beach and hurts her foot.  A gorgeous man with a southern drawl comes to her rescue.  Allen takes her to his home and gives her the best sex in her life.  She only sees it as a means to an end but he sees it as so much more.  He needs to show how good they can be together but he has secrets of his own that may keep that from happening.  Allen is really Darius Allen Markum.

This may have been a short read but it packed quite a punch.  Cheri wants to be a mother so badly and is willing to do almost anything to get her wish.  She had her blinders on so when Allen came into the picture he just blindsided her.  The sex scenes were hot but worked so well with the story. I love these types of books where the man just sweeps them off their feet.  Every woman should be so lucky.

Will he put an end to the Golden Killer or will Mira become a bird in a gilded cage while adding to the myth of Mirabella?  Can they hold onto what they've found and the special love they've discovered?

 

This book is small slice of heaven after a long week. When I was assigned this story to review, I thought it was going to be paranormal at the title, but if you like action, love, a story that is interwoven so completely that you literally get lost in it, then Bird in a Gilded Cage will give you that. Ms. Poff has written a tale that will tug at your heart strings. The characters were a beautiful mix of good versus bad. The bad guy in this book makes you really want to strangle him with your bare hands and that has to be saluted.  Mira is a delightful little morsel and her honesty sometimes is wonderfully blush-worthy. As for Max…ROAR Baby! This man is everything every girl has ever wanted.

 

There were a couple of places where I was a bit lost and the bad guy’s name was a lot predictable, but those can be overlooked because of the sizzling scenes and the heart clenching action.

He is tired, hurt and confused about his future life.  Will he give up and retire as requested?   Then on a one-day trip to New Orleans his life took a sudden turn.  He found an unbelievable request to help a ghost free herself form a voo-doo spell. Gerald did not believe in ghosts.  Only a person who did not beleive in voo-doo could help break the spell.  Gerald definitely did not believe in voo-doo.  To help the ghost Margarita he had to perform a mental challenge, a physical challenge and a challenge that would require him to push his own beliefs to a whole new level. 

Ms. Dana Littlejohn has created a first class fantasy story with a touch of erotic sex and a nice romantic ending.  The storyline is creative and well thought out.  I was captured with how Gerald was able to move his life from recuperation pain to one that will give him the happiness he didn’t have and never new he needed. The ghost Margarita is a wonderful character that spiced up Gerald’s life and made me want to see her be released from the spell that was cast over her many years ago.  The story flowed at just the right pace for an easy reading in one sitting.  The erotic sex scene helped to make the decision by Gerald to help Margarita believable.  I found the sex scene well written, but not as sizzling as I wanted.  The story builds to a nice ending that lead me to visualize a romantic adventure beginning for Gerald and Margarita.  I recommend this book to readers that like fantasy stories with a little erotic twist and a nice romantic ending.

Normally, I wouldn't be sorry to not have read the first story to a series but this time, I am definately going to get it. Jonathon's Bite of the Apple is an amazing read. I started reading it and could not stop until the story was finished.  Jonathan was a beautiful soul (can you say that about a vampire?) and believable. I would have loved to see Kenya fleshed out some more because she is such a power woman and we need to see more of that in female characters in reading romance. Sexy, saucy and hot...what more can you ask for in a vampire read?

Candy Caine has managed to write a truly heartwarming tale of love, misunderstanding and fate.  I truly enjoyed the characters especially Jade. My heart went out to her in such a way that I felt as though I had known her all my life.  Her life troubles are real and believable and the tale has me more than satisfied. The love scenes were like air, they were necessary, purposeful and well placed. With that said, they left me breathless at their heat level and genuine appeal. And Preston…Too Cute!  Over-all Never Change a Thing is highly recommended by the REC.  Five roses.

One day he went to see her and she tells him she is in danger and must leave. Surge now has to go to the only who can help him get to the surface to save his love. Will Poseidon give Surge what he needs to save a human once he’s confessed all he’s done?

While I have to say the characters' names were a little cliche (Harpoon which I found to be a strange name for a sea thing to Riptide), I can't say I have any other complaints about Surge and Raine: A merman's Tale. The characters were fun and had this wonderful human element to them that left me amazed. The story was creatively weaved. The urgency that could be felt in Raine's voice on the peir and the danger lurking at every corner to the friends who seem to stick to Surge's side when he needed them the most; Passion that was beautiful in its placement. And the ending, Bravo! This story was a wonderful little romp and for that I give it four roses from the REC.

Title: The Soulmate’s Curse

I was very skeptical of this story at first just because…well I really don’t know why but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice flow of dialogue, the interesting and real characters and I really love the way the author explains the curse at the beginning of the story. It pulls you in and you are anxious to find out more.

The attraction between Sonja and Lucas is hot and you will defiantly have to drink a glass of water to cool off from this amount of passion and heat. I laughed more then once out loud at the sharp, sassy dialogue between the two characters. For those of you who have seen Deliverance, buy the book and you will see what I am talking about. Reading this was a lovely way to spend my leisure time. I enjoyed it immensely and recommend it to anyone who is a paranormal fan. Which I defiantly am and I look forward to reading future works by Ms. Rose. Two thumbs up and 4 stars!

I met the sexiest guy at a relative’s wedding.  Jake and I hit it off instantly.  So much so that I invited him to my place and let him ravage me right there in my living room.  We discovered we had so many things in common - including the groom.  We’re both his cousins! Uh oh!  

 
Kissing Cousins was a pleasure to review because it was a sensually fun romp.  The characters, Victoria and Jake had a chemistry that could be felt through the screen and makes one want believe in love at first sight.  If you’re looking for something to brighten your day, make you laugh and put some heat under your collar, I recommend this delightful little tale. For making picking up a sexy stud a wedding perfectly alright, Dara Edmondson’s Kissing Cousins receives three and a half roses from the REC!

 Dessert of Desire knocked me off my feet and left me feeling mellow and in love.  It did not play on the regular clichés of desserts in your typical romance novel, which was a welcomed change. This beautiful short story brings you into the life of Eve Mason who is somewhat of a pessimist and let you see life through her eyes.  She is a strong, real woman who many of us can relate to. The sexy Red Calloway is every woman’s dream and his personality rings true.  With humor and sensuality, this story is a wonderful work of art.   The love scenes in Desert of Desires aren’t there because Ms. Edmondson feels she needed them, they were weaved into the story and were necessary.  I would recommend this story with four roses.

 Addicted to Cyn, the characters defiantly have chemistry in spades. They are addicted to each other and cannot get enough of one and other. Always a good thing between characters and I loved the name Cyn. I found myself smiling at the passion the characters had for one and other, their desires but the love scenes were not overly erotic like the typical Torrid Teasers Whiskey Creek is known for. I did find the plot wanting in this Novella. There didn’t seem to be enough excitement in this story for my taste. The dialogue did not flow smoothly and seemed slightly unrealistic.  It seemed to me like the plot was rushed toward the end of the book. I loved the characters and the setting of this story and feel like it has wonderful potential. Perhaps if the story had been longer then the dialogue and the plot wouldn’t have seemed so rushed. Then perhaps there would have been room for character development and an exciting climax. I am giving this story 2 roses.

Aubrey Nichols was just trying to flee, trying to escape the hate surrounding her. Three Yankee soldiers don’t believe her. They are sure she is a rebel spy. They mean to hold her until she talks or kill her, but Aubrey knows nothing.

 Then he comes to her rescue, Trent. A Lupine, an alpha male and leader of his pack. What Aubrey doesn’t yet know is that she is one too and Trent is her intended mate.

 Scarlet Love- I really enjoyed the character of Aubrey Nichols, who is very strong and independent. When the Yankee soldiers capture her she is afraid but refuses to allow them to see just how afraid she is. Trent comes to Aubrey’s rescue but we never get a good description of him. There is some very strong action. Trent’s capture by the soldiers was very well done and exciting. For me, there was no character development; the dialogue between the two lovers was very rushed as was some aspects of the plot. The love scenes were not erotic but more gratuitous. All in all, this entire story had some exciting elements but I did not feel any kind of connection with the two main characters or any kind of sexual tension. The couple quite literally, just stopped what they were doing, not too long after they met to have sex for the first time. There was nothing that made me interested in the lives of these characters. I am giving this story 1 rose.

She has spent the last year doing divorce cases and was beginning to think that relationships just didn't last anymore. In the middle of the drama, death and divorces she met Jose Sanchez. He was sweet, gallant, respectful and sexy without even knowing it. In the middle of all the craziness in her life, could he be the one to remind her that relationships can last forever?

Dana Littlejohn’s flare for interesting names for her characters is shown in The Sun Rose Over Cairo.  The main female, Cairo Ivory, is a bold breath of fresh air. She is independent, strong, honest and is in no way a damsel in distress.  Jose Sanchez brings sexy to a whole new level and is a welcomed change from your typical bitter male.  Not only that, but Mr. Sanchez is sensual and knows just how to kiss a lady.  I found it cute the way he trips over his words, feelings and actions because he hadn’t been in the dating game for so long.

The friendships that are forged in this story are breathtakingly genuine in their perfection and are friendships that every one of us would love in our lives.  

The Sun Rose Over Cairo has a plot that is rich with thorough writing and a surprise at every turn.  One surprise will leave you giggling and breathless. It is a wonderful experience and is highly recommended with four roses from the REC.
