This is the story of the Australian rock band, Rev Black and The Rockin' Vicars, and its successor band, Tin Pan Alley. Rev Black & The Rocking Vicars were probably one of the better known bands to emanate from Wollongong in the 1960's. This was in no small part due to the then controversy surrounding their name, mode of stage dress and manner of formation. With the advent of the internet and the passing of time their story has been somewhat interwoven with the English band of the same name who went on to spawn a famous member of an equally famous heavy metal band and themselves have gained reflected glory from that. The Australian Rockin' Vicars forged their own way, touring extensively around Australia in their 2 years or so of existence. Their story also also features, albeit in a small way, in that of Australia's own successful band of that day, The Easybeats, the Rockin' Vicars having recorded three songs from the pen of Harry Vanda & George Young.
This web page is designed as a companion page to my page on another Wollongong band of that era The Marksmen.
