Review: Positively Childfree
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

If you’re more of a soft-core CFer, then this little pink-and-white corner of the net may tickle your fancy. Hell, even the site says at the top of the page that it’s a “more positive site for childfree people.” I don’t understand the function of the clouds dotting the page, but whatever; I cannot judge the content of a website based on the initial appearance.

Amazingly enough, my computer remembered my login information after I’d not been here for years, so I logged back in (you need to register to see the forum at all). And wow, this place is fucking dead. Don’t get me wrong, I knew it wasn’t the liveliest CF site ever, but as of January 2012, the most recent post was from October 2011; second most recent was from April 2011.

Well shit. If you’re looking for a more active community, don’t go here. It’s not a bad site; truthfully, when I still posted there, I often felt a little bored only because it just seemed too…polite. Not a single utterance of a curse word or CF lingo; the main mod/admin even said in the board rules, “No using words like ‘Moo’ or ‘breeder’ because you can express your anger with nicer words.” I don’t know, the last part sounds like something a second-grade teacher says to a violent, bratty student.

And regular old cursing is censored automatically too; in other words, “ass” becomes “@$$.” Bleh. Way too sugar-coated for me since I’ve grown into a crotchety CF 20-something, but for CFers who don’t curse like sailors, Positively Childfree could be a good alternative to more extreme sites. At least, it would be if it wasn’t a fucking online ghost town. The people there were nice, and there are some people who are fence-sitters leaning toward the CF side, but here’s the $64,000 question: Do they allow breeders?

Answer? I honestly do not know. Nothing in the rules says anything about parents being forbidden from posting, so I have to presume they can barge right in and spew their verbal diarrhea all over the site. In the time I was a member there, though, I don’t ever recall a breeder presence (I think they gravitate more toward the “mean” CF sites).

I suppose you could post to Positively Childfree, but you’d just be kind of talking in the wind. It seems TCFL has probably become PCF’s replacement in terms of content and subdued attitude/language.
