CustomersSuck: Where management-suck is the norm Soo, time for another non-childfree site review! The site on my online chopping block this time is CustomersSuck.com (or, more specifically, the forum). Now, this might get a little bewildering because there’s actually more than one website called CustomersSuck– two of which are on LiveJournal and suck for different reasons. But this time around, I’m going to be dissecting the one that is not a blog. As you may be able to determine from the site’s name, Customers Suck is a place dedicated to letting employees in assorted lines of work bitch about bad customers, bad bosses, bad co-workers and having to actually do the jobs they're paid to do. And there are a few not-quite-so-work-related divisions as well, like an “off-topic” section and another area about bad drivers. Is it horrible? No, of course not – it’s good for employees to be able to vent about their atrocious customers so they don’t become homicidal from bottling it all up. My main issue is with the over-moderation and scrutinizing of every single thing people post. A good example of this is something they call “fratching,” which is saying or even implying something that might offend some dickhead on the site and arouse a dispute. And this can be anything…work, politics, lifestyle choices, religion, health, discrimination, reproduction, etc. While the need for some moderation is understandable when you’ve got such a miscellany of members, I think CS takes it over the top. Moderators will happily go in and edit posts they think might hurt someone’s precious, delicate widdle feewings. If you require your posts to be edited several times, the mods will babysit you and you will need to submit your post to them for approval (so they can edit it) before they make it public. Honestly, ANY forum will have a wide variety of people from different walks of life, cultures, religious backgrounds, and so forth and they don't need a fucking iron-fisted hold on them by mods and admins. Even if the mods think a topic might be ever so faintly headed for “fratching” territory, they close it. Sometimes threads will be locked immediately if the mods are being excessively sensitive little PMS-ing dumbfucks and feel they could suffer some kind of legal repercussions due to the topic’s subject matter. It shouldn't be called "fratching" - it should be called "felching" because in order to not get bitched at by the fuckfaced mods, you need to completely suck their asses. Basically, Customers Suck is Etiquette Hell with cursing (and fewer insane people). If you’re childfree, you are forced to put a cap on CF lingo because you’ll get bitched at if you say “breeder” or “Moo." Sounds familiar, does it not? Yeah, they do that at E-Hell too. This is because there are parents on the board and it might offend precious, special little them. Well surely if those people are good parents, our terminology would not apply to them and they have no grounds for being offended. It’s not an all-out rant site because you are forced to censor yourself, and if you’re trying to have a good old-fashioned bitch and get some stress off your chest, knowing you need to repress some of what you’d like to say can just get annoying. I’d suggest lurking there and nothing more. It’s got some fantastic reading material, but the mods can prove to be very difficult to deal with and it can get fucking annoying having to fix what you say for the little crybaby pussies there. Those douchebags are fucking Nazis about everything and they completely take all the possible joy out of posting. Customers may suck, but CustomersSuck may just suck a little more. |
