The band Black Pearl was formed in August of 2003, when founding member, lead singer and bassist Mike Hayes put together the 94.9 The Rock Sunday Jam with the help of former morning man Al Joynes and Wing Shack owner Dave Hannah. Acquiring one of the best guitarists in the region, Wayne Silver solidified the bands superior seventies rock sound and brought the classic rock concept of this band to life.

After a couple months of being The Rock jam band, and an opening slot with Teenage Head which brought great reviews, Mike & Wayne decided to begin playing regularly as a band and augmented the line-up with permanent drummer and lead singer Jim McCaffery.

All three members of this power trio have been playing the clubs for well over 20 years as well as stints with touring bands. Collectively they have opened for the likes of April Wine, Edgar Winter, Kim Mitchell, Downchild Blues Band, Pat Travers Band and many more.

Since the inception of this line-up in December of 2003, Black Pearl has performed for over 2 years as the house band at Einsteins in Bowmanville, successfully staging a live Karaoke concept show on Thursdays which allows people in the audience to sing with the band.  Jim has been part of this concept their for almost 10 years with equally great success. They continue to bring their brand of classic rock to a bar near you!

Our Official 2008 Reunion is happening at the Wee Hideaway in Oshawa, ON, on Saturday December 27th. It's located at Wilson & Olive, in the plaza behind Perfect Pizza! 9:30 start, come celebrate the holidays and the first show together in over 3 years!
