The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization founded by Esther Booth Zorn in 1982. ICAN's mission is to prevent unnecessary cesareans through education, to provide support for cesarean recovery, and to promote VBAC.
----------
ICAN of Greater Rochester was founded in June 2002 by Barb Guzik-Hammond and Krista Cornish Scott and is currently lead by Deborah Bradley and Alison Spath. Along with our mission statement above, we seek to serve the needs of the women who come to us, including help with local birth and VBAC issues, providing a safe space to process our birth experiences, and promoting cesarean awareness through events and publicity.
Meetings are typically held on the fourth Sunday of the month. For more information, to find out the location of our next meeting, or to speak with someone about having ICAN present at your conference or function, email ICANofGreaterRochester@gmail.com
