SDR 4X 4 Overview

Tokyo Japan, March 24, 2003 - Sony Corporation has recently announced the invention of a Small Biped Entertainment robot.  The SDR 4X 4 can easily adapt a wide range of incidents because of its rich communication system.  This walking prototype can blend right into a human life.  It is provided with a variety of sensor systems that help it communicate, react to problems and much, much more.  The performance control system provides fast, efficent solutions in order to react to certain issues.  The software includes memory, learning and the robots walking mechanism.

Motion Sensor Systems

One of the most important things to make sure when you are making a robot is to make sure that the robot can function well.  You have to make it sure it doesn't fall.  If it falls, the Fall-over Avoidance Motion Control System secures it and pull itelf up...  The SDR 4X 4 can walk on an irregular surface up to approximately 10mm.  It can also walk on a tilted surface that is approximately 10 degrees.

Performance

The SDR 4X 4 is equipted with various top of the line systems that control the way it acts and behaves.  It can detect faces on complex backgrounds using its Micro Stereo Vision... It can aslo mamorize up to 10 faces and also recognize them by their tone of voice!  It can also learn new words that do not exist in its dictionary.  This robot can even make sing songs if you imput them into its memory. With the SDR Motion Creator, the SDR-4X enables easy production of dance moves using the PC.

Compared to the "SDR-3X" , the 'SDR-4X has a  more advanced physical performance and response can be achieved by an approximately 30% improvement in the start-up torque, an approximately 15% improvement in rated torque, and an approximately 20% improvement in efficiency.
