R.O.B.O.T. 2
R.O.B.O.T. stands for Relief of Boredom of Teenagers. Many young people find that facilities that are aimed at them are some distance away from their neighbourhood or can be costly.
Frequently this results in young people congregating in large numbers on local streets, but their boisterous behaviour and noise can become a nuisance to local residents. The R.O.B.O.T. team, in a mobile unit, are frequent visitors to Burnley Wood and Healey Wood and listen to the young people, helping them to arrive at workable solutions to avoid nuisance behaviour and to understand the needs of other residents. The trained R.O.B.O.T. team work closely with other agencies such as the police, Community Wardens and Burnley Wood Community Action Group and advise young people on drug and alcohol abuse and award positive behaviour with arranged trips and events.
R.O.B.O.T. are currently helping Burnley Wood youths to progress their desire for a purpose built community centre/meeting point which the young people feel will benefit them and solve the problems of nuisance in the neighbourhood.
