All I really want is to be happy… One of my favorite singers passionately poured these words onto a record during the most trying time in her life. It was a plea. I believe it was a plea to herself. In the middle of turbulence, she needed a goal. A purpose. A focus. And in that moment she decided that it was happiness. What exactly happiness meant for her, she was unsure, but she knew that she had to go within to find it.
Much like that singer, I too had to determine, in the middle of a storm, that I was deserving of happiness. Long-lasting, fulfilling happiness. What I found was that nothing brought me more joy than expressing myself. Despite my collegiate training and corporate posturing, I was an artist with a desperate need to allow what was in my heart to come to the surface. Whether it was with the clothes I wore, the music I listened to, or the words I wrote, everything for me has always been about expressing exactly where I’m coming from. I found my greatest satisfaction, however, in doing so with words.
I am on a mission to touch souls with my words. To empower and encourage others by telling my story, by raising my voice. If I can reach just one, I will have served my purpose in life. My prose is not my soapbox. It is my stage. A stage on which I stand and proudly proclaim my truth... IJUSWANNAWRITE!
