Additional information and/or questions regarding this crime series can be directed to the Child Victim Sexual Assault Unit:
Warning - Being Followed Home. There have been four cases recently in the NW area that this has happened. Three knew that they were being followed. What happens is that the car following will have a person approach the car in the driveway and try to rob. One woman saw what was happening and started honking the horn before the person in question got too close to her car and that stopped him. So far, the four targets were all elderly! If you know of anyone that can use this information, PLEASE let them know!
We were advised that if this happens, pull into a well lit area and/or populated area - business, any house, etc., if possible, and draw attention!!!! Horn! Lights! Whatever! If possible, get a description of the person and the car with a license plate number. And call 911 in ASAP!
An alternative, lead them around and get a better description of the vehicle until you reach a safe location. You would not get trapped in a driveway with no exit.
In addition, if you are returning to your car that is in a parking lot and see a note on the back window after you get in, DO NOT get out to see what it is. Drive away and if it is still there later, then look at it. Personally, any note on my back window screams that it is not important anyway!
Have a safe Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Children’s Hospital Warns, it has no connection to a new round of door-to-door magazine sales in the city. The hospital has been notified by alert neighbors that individuals are using the hospital’s name in a sales pitch. These claims are completely false.
Suspicious Parties
August 28, 2008
The Omaha Police Department has been fielding numerous complaints regarding the company D & T Industries, which is based out of Georgia. Representatives for this company are going door to door selling magazines and advising potential customers that the proceeds help get young men and women off the street. It appears at this time that this company has not filed for the proper permits.
Please remember that anytime you observe someone behaving
suspiciously to call 911 and report the activity.

Omaha police remind residents to lock their doors and windows in light of a string of strange home invasions that may be connected to a recent rape.
A 37-year-old Omaha woman was raped Sunday at a home near 42nd and Browne Streets. The attacker entered the home shortly before midnight through an unlocked door, police said.
Investigators are considering whether the rape is related to a half-dozen similar incidents that have occurred since March, said Lt. Darci Tierney.
In those cases, women found a man in their homes or apartments in the middle of the night fondling himself, Tierney said. None of these women was groped or raped.
Each time, she said, the man entered the residences through unlocked doors.
Tierney said the break-ins haven't been limited to a certain area of town.
Police don't have a solid description of the intruder, but Tierney said the cases have enough similarities for investigators to suspect they are connected.
Investigators say the attacker is not the same man who raped four young women and attempted to rape two others from 2002 to 2004 after breaking into their homes. He would bind the women and sometimes stayed with them for hours.
The last time the serial rapist struck was Dec. 24, 2004. He has not been arrested.
In addition to locking doors, Tierney said people should use exterior lights and keep an eye on their neighbors. Call 911 if you see a suspicious person in your neighborhood, she said.

The Omaha Police Department has been fielding numerous complaints regarding a male attempting to paint house addresses on curbs in front of homes. We have indentified this individual and he does have the legal permits but we are asking neighbors to be aware that he is soliciting business and it is not mandatory by the City of Omaha that house addresses need to be painted on the curb. It appears elderly neighbors are susceptible to believing this is mandatory and we are asking residents to let their neighbors, especially the elderly know that they do not have to purchase these services.
Please contact 911 if you see any suspicious behavior in your neighborhood and if you know of any past behavior of anyone matching this.
