July's (in the kitchen) portion of the 2007 Food Expo for Riverdale kicked off at the newly built Riverdale Community Center, located in the "down town" section of the town. Riverdale hopes to continue to grow and oneday start construction on a Downtown hood. You can see that there is work still being done, but non the less, it was a lovely affair.
Taffi Snowden, wife of the Mayor, got things started by giving a small lecture on desert. The do's and don'ts of desert. Why many sims conciderer it the over looked meal. When to serve desert was also discussed. Unlike planned they decdided to serve drinks (tea) during the leacture since it was a bit breezy out that day. No one wanted to have chilly hands as they listened to what Mrs. Snowden had to say. To the left you can see Mrs. Snowden explaining that good deserts served at a formal gathering can result in making good friends.

Desert and more tea was served after the first leacture. Thanks to Chef Samantha Patrelli for providing the delicious treats, and Mrs. Snowden for the yummy tea. I wonder if I can get the recipe?

Quickly following the refreshments was Jamie Christian, she gave a leacture on the differences with cooking on a stove or in a microwave. Which was better and why. It was very informative and I feel many Sims learned something new. Seen in the picture Mrs. Christian decided to stand in the doorway so when new arrivles enter they had no choice but to listen to what she had to say. Now, I wouldn't call her bossy or anything, lol.

Once the leactures were all wrapped up it was onto the two exibits set up for the month, New gadgets for your home and Dinner table place setting. Up first the place settings. We were showen a lovely dining set created by Kansas City Designs, this is the set that the winner of one of the raffles will win at the Farmer's Market. I think there will be many formal dinners being held now based off of the model.

Next was the new gadgets. The new waffle maker from Sim Mod Board, now you can make delicious waffles for family and guests in no time with it's "make many" fetures. The new juicer for those who are more concered with their health and all around well-beining. Many wonderful juices can be made such as , apple juice, beaty cocktail, pepper punch, eggplant juice, and a little known juice that I think I'll never be trying, pureed boot. We also got a peek at the new hot chocolate maker. With colder weather moving in, I'm sure this will be a "must have" on many Simmer's shopping lists come winter. And to round out the items was a lovely tea maker, from Mod the Sims. Another must for cold mornings come winter.

Stay tuned as we add more from the Expo!
