Corpus Christi Caller Times (2/10/2009) -
Yesterday the Corpus Christi Riptide sent in their pick to Commissioner Josh Stein to make the selection. "With the fourth overall selection of the 2009 OIFL Draft, the Corpus Christi Riptide select RBLB Corey Palso". The crowd at FedEx Coliseum then erupted with excitement.

"We really liked what we saw out of Corey (Palso) at the combine, and we knew with him on the board, he was a must pick", Riptide Owner/GM Robert Cole went on, "He arrived earlier today, and already has a locker with his name on it. We can't wait to see what he has come preseason", he finished.

"Its going to be a lot of fun", newly drafted RBLB Corey Palso started, "I can't wait to show this staff my abilities out on the field, and I'm only going to get better after training camp. I can learn a lot from these veterans here, especially Bill (Long) who has welcomed me with open arms here in Corpus Christi", he finished.

"I'm really looking forward to see what the rook has", veteran RBLB Bill Long went on, "I know that my starting job is on the line, but I have no problem at all giving it up to this guy. He has a ton of talent, and its needs to be utilized. I'm sure coach (Siegfried) will find a way to get us both on the field at the same time", he concluded.

Corpus Christi Caller Times (2/15/2009) -
Just a few days ago, the Corpus Christi Riptide made their second, and only other, selection of the 2009 OIFL Draft. "With the twenty-second selection of the 2009 OIFL Draft, the Corpus Christi Riptide select OS Vernon Tyler".

"We knew there was only one place there we needed an upgrade, and it was at offensive specialist", Riptide Head Coach Chris Siegfried continued, "We aren't trying to give away Timmy's (Hall) job, but trying to get him to want to play harder then he did last season. Vernon (Tyler) has tons of talent, and we will look to utilize him all over the field", he finished.

"I can't wait to get to camp", newly drafted OS Vernon Tyler started, "Its going to be a great experience, and we have already begun talking about my contract. I will be signed by time training camp begins, and I will be able to focus solely on getting better", he finished.
