Hello,
My name is Delbert Felix,my call sign is WY9L,and I have been a
licensed amateur "ham" radio operator since May 2005,and I am currently
the club president.
The RCARC is a fairly new radio club here in Ripley county only
being organized since January 2008 , starting with 11 members and now
we are at 46 members.
As many of you know club membership is very important to us along with having active members.
The FCC database shows that there are 123 licensed amateurs in Ripley county, with only 30 of them being members of the RCARC.
My personal goal and the goal of the club is to promote ham radio and the club itself.
It is a great past time hobby & a great way to meet some really good people all over the world.
There is a phrase that has been coined that goes like
this...."Talk around the world...become a ham radio operator" , and
this phrase is very true,if you get your license you have the choice to
upgrade to higher classes of license and you can talk all over the
world.
There is no longer the CW (morse code) requirement which means you
will need to get a Technicians level book, study it and then come to a
VE test session and take your written test, then you will be on your way
to a very fulfilling hobby.
I would like to extend on behalf of the RCARC an invitation to all licensed amateurs in and around Ripley county to come and join our radio club , it is the friendliest and most active radio club in the county.
Also i would like to invite anyone who is not a licensed amateur
to join us as an associate member and maybe in time you will get
licensed. Associate members are permitted to attend and participate in
all of the club activities and have full voting rights in all matters
of the club except when it comes to anything dealing with officers of
the club.
The RCARC members have strive to create a radio club that people can enjoy & appreciate being apart of.
So come to a meeting , see what we are all about and join us in making our club and our hobby even greater.
