Riding Is Flying

Cantering...Jumping...Flying...It's All the Same

Valley View Acres, in Woodstock, Illinois is THE best horseback riding barn in the world!! Amber, our trainer, has those magical powers that some people are blessed with where she can make you feel great about your riding, even when you know you really did horrible. She'll get us to do things in the blink of an eye that we'd never be able to do on our own in a million years.

The barn itself is also never boring. In November 2006, Illinois' very first all-white thoroughbred was born at Valley View. PerfectlyMemorable, or "Phoebe" as we call her around the barn is also only the 62nd thoroughbred in the world to be registered as white! A few months later, in May 2007, MySweetestDownfall ("sonya") was born as Illinois' second all white thoroughbred. Tattoo Artist ("Jerry") who is chestnut and white but also registered with the Jockey Club as white, was born in August. (Check the blog for more barn updates!)

Here's a picture of the amazing Amber!! She's holding Sonya, right before she (Sonya) left for Kentucky to be trained as a real racehorse!! (photo source: http://www.freewebs.com/evenheaven/2007foals.htm) Who knows, maybe we'll be seeing a white thoroughbred at the Kentucky Derby soon!

The summer show went super well, everyone had a great time. Great job to ALL riders and horses!!

Here's me and Zelda after our classes, tired but proud!

Finally, spring has arrived!
