Ricky began his racing career at age 16 by binning the first feature race he had ever entered. His father had been racing many years before Ricky began. Being in Dad's pit crew certainly gave him an education in how to make and keep a race car competitive. Dad still keeps his hands in racing by helping build and maintain Ricky's car.
Twenty-four years of racing have included some memorable events as well as some bumps and bruises. Sharing the race track with such NASCAR noteables such as Bobby Hamilton, Jeremy Mayfield, and Red Farmer certainly led to some unforgettable moments.
Ricky's accomplishments incude Rookie of The Year, Points Championships, Most Popular Driver, and Sportsmanship Trophys.
Ricky raced a full schedule at Nashville Speedway (Music City Motorplex) for the first time in 1996 and ended the season with a pretty impressive record: 12 top 5 finishes, 14 top 10 finishes, 1 win and 7th overall in the Points Standings, 2nd in the Rookie of the Year Standings.
Ricky now races at Highland Rim Speedway, and on a limited schedule at the Music City Motorplex. In the past two years, he has earned a top 5 spot in the final standings at Highland Rim. Ricky will once again pilot the # 0 Chevy Monte Carlo for the 2005 season.
